btw, skold what did you mean with, no game works, hard patch thing?
does that mean we have to hardpatch the games, and it works unique for each game or did i missunderstood?

@all,
lets all try to drop the $$$ discussions please. The last thing I want to see is the DML team get discouraged because ppl are focusing more on the "drama" behind DML rather than the developments themselves. I know if I were on the team I'd be pretty upset about the direction this thread is taking.

back on topic, great work team, I'm happy to see more and more advancements happening on this project :D

maybe you should give this book a try http://www.amazon.co.../dp/0470747471/

I know english, but wanted to make sure, as everything doesn´t seem to always be clear in this thread.
Ask when you want to be sure, or want to learn something, that´s how it goes for me;)

Me neither;S

I thought the donation went to godlike as he owned the project?
i don´t get, how does Crediar get the money, and the project back??;S

EDIT

Wait what;O?
So crediar helped godlike to get back the money?
and now whaT;O?

yeah, crediar helped to get me money back. true.

so Godlike payed crediar, ppl then donated to crediar so he would work again, and now owns the project once more?

ppl donated to a friends paypal which donations will be directed to me for reimbursing me for dml.

1.G0dlike bought DML from crediar
2.G0dlike release codes as opensource
3.Wiipower and others make changes to the code
4.crediar promises to update the code with a better version once people donated as much as g0dlike paid for DML
5.people donate the amount to G0dlike
6.crediar updates code
7.Everyone lived happily ever after except the evil witch Joostin

couldnt say it any better. oh no.7 xD anyone saw any inquisitors lately?

What I can't understand is why everyone wanted to see the project continue. It's great that this has been turned into a very worthy project but wasn't the idea to have usb loading? Now it's sd only and we already have sdboot for that.

USB loading is AFAIK impossible and isn't available for the GC games. SD sizes are easily 32GB for about $40 so it's not really that hard to get the games you want on it. If DML is updated to the point that almost all games work flawlessly, using the Wii disc loader is not needed and the hardware is the one that actually does the work needed. All projects in this regard are good.

@DML team: Good work, now just waiting for my 32 GB SD to arrive and start testing :)

But how you phrase it, sk0ld, it sounds more like a demand and that's pretty shitty, imo.
um, well where specifically does this sound more like a demand? I tried to be very careful about this..and when I read it again, all I see is choice.

Since crediar's usual paypal address is no longer useable, we asked g0dlike's friend who then agreed to forward any funds donated to crediar.

i think this is what was confusing some people including me. i thought this was referring to godlike, that it was a plan to get the money that godlike paid, but instead of giving it to godlike, you wanted to give it to crediar. what would leave godlike with -400 and crediar with +800.

but now i get it, that it's completely unrelated and you were talking about the future progress.

Interesting thread, Sk0ld. However, it doesn't answer the one question I have on this matter.

Crediar sold DML to Godlike. It's very nice of him to help out Godlike to recuperate the cost* ...

...but that doesn't automatically mean Crediar becomes the owner of the project again. I mean...I don't want to sound ungrateful for the work that has been put into it, and I can really understand why Crediar want a return on future work he's putting into it.

But that doesn't make it his decision (or yours, Sk0ld...but I assume you speak on his behalf). So without further delays, here's my question...

Godlike...how do you feel about it Crediar will ask for donations for further development?

*@[member='JoostinOnline']: Crediar may not have paid in money, but he did help out a great deal by working on a project he previously abandoned out of disillusion. You seem to forget (or even ignore) this part of the situation.

The way I see it is that crediar does not own the project. But he is accepting donations for his contributions to the project. He is not, as far as I understand, suggesting that paying him is the only way to continue the project, but it seems clear to me he is probably the most qualified to contribute. And all he is asking for is a few donations here and there to keep him motivated to continue contributing to the project.

What I can't understand is why everyone wanted to see the project continue. It's great that this has been turned into a very worthy project but wasn't the idea to have usb loading? Now it's sd only and we already have sdboot for that.

sdboot is for SD gecko, DML is for front SD slot on the Wii - no extra hardware other than gc controller and memory card needed (memory card maybe not for much longer with NMM stuff being worked on more).

@[member='JoostinOnline']: The way I see it, what essentially happened was crediar was given an "advance" on the donation of 400 EUR, and has now paid it back with the donations he would have otherwise received. In other words, crediar would have gotten those 400 EUR now from donations of people wanting this new revision of DML. He just wanted the money earlier, so "borrowed" it. No problem there if you think about it. But as has been said, this doesn't need to be discussed any more.

Well first of all Wever, who said anything about ownership? You seem to have forgotten a step in there. g0dlike released it as open source. Nobody 'owns' it anymore. Who better to make that decision? (also, what decision?! anyone can work on it) crediar has however for all intents and purposes been the one continuing to advance the project, whatever state it was in, and now he'd like to continue working on it and take in little money from donations. I fail to see the problem here.
Nobody is demanding, forcing, etc. etc.. I mean what the hell is wrong with you people? :hateit:

I agree. Basically it ended up that godlike donated 42 some odd euros, and a bunch of other people pitched in for crediar to release the project as open source. Now, he will continue developing the open source version for a few donations. Nobody has to donate, and the code will forever be open source. People can now do essentially whatever they want, except crediar has implicitly agreed that if people continue to fund the project he will work on. Why is everybody all up in arms, IMHO this is essentially the best possible outcome to what was initially a nasty situation. Also, remember that there were a number of people (including myself) that donated to the project before it was released at all, when we thought the source wouldn't be released at all. Overall, this has been a project that Crediar has been doing for donations, this has simply returned us to that situation, except now everything is open soruce, which makes it even better.

Nobody has ownership. GodLike released dml to the community as open source.
He took a 400 euro risk when he bought the code from Crediar, but that was his decision,
Crediar helped wiipower with his improvements, and was kind enough to delay a major improvement untill GodLike got his money back.
Now I see all those people complaining, while none of them is on the donation list. (Sorry for the exceptions.)

If you want to donate to Crediar for further improvement of the project or not is totally up to you.
GodLike wanted 350 euro of his investment back, and got it.

If crediar want's to continue to improve the project, with or without donations, is totally up to him.

If you want to improve the project yourself, the sources are available on the google svn. (Good luck with that.)

I'll stop here, this is a waste of time. This Topic should better be closed.

What is the point in donating? when I'm happy with what is available now and more in the future (possible NMM support). At least, I'm not being scammed or paying for it and it's available to everyone.

Edit: Also... I think the risk has paid off, massively and has worked out well so far. I wish all of the DML development team, all the best with the continuing progress with this new advancement. As like I said before, I'll be watching this project very closely. :)

Ugh, why do people want to argue so much about this? There is nothing wrong with people having their own opinion on this.

Seriously, I wonder what crediar showed us in the video, since none of the public releases have worked. I'm not saying he lied about it, but I don't see why he didn't release the working version.

Seeing Mario Kart Arcade GP playing through DML in that video was a massive shock to me (despite it being experimental). But... that isn't really the point of discussion here.

Although... I do agree with what your saying, JoostinOnline.
