Hardware Question: Sensor bar - how does it work?

Man, to think it was so easy to get the damn thing to be lit :)

I didnt even have to solder the wire. The original was scaled enough to twin another wire around it, then just secure it with electric tape^^
 
Yea, I checked several different guides. The absolute easiest way is to remove 2 LEDs on each side. It will then be able to get enough power from +5v(usb). [edit: each LED runs of 1.25v]
Im not really comfortable with that though, since I seem to have a few issues even in its original state.
Usually issues with the Sensor Bar can be fixes by raising the sensitivity.
For example my couch was just to far away to use the Wii Remote. I always had to lean forward to point on something.
Raising the sensitivity just means that the camera in the Wii Remotes camera is able to pick up weaker IR light.
The option can be found under: Wii Settings->Sensor Bar->Sensitivity
 
My friend and I found that two lights on the ceiling of his house just above his TV worked perfectly well as a sensor bar. They weren't infra-red lights or anything, so I'm not sure exactly how that worked.

Its been on max since day 1 :P

And yea, there are plenty of things that emits IR light. But the sensorbar is a liiiitle bit easier to carrie with you :)
 
Man Im awesome.. I was very careful not to block the DVD slot with the new cable for the disclight - with success! ... However, I managed to block the Eject button instead :lol:
Fixed now though :P


I guess no one knows of an easy way to invert the effect of the disc light? In other words, On when its supposed to be Off, and Off when its supposed to be On.
