I'd like to have a more "powerful" console than the Wii, so I'd llike an Xbox 360. My PC can run some games, but not the "good graphics" ones. I prefer to play games on a gaming console because I don't like to update my computer specs all the time.

If you build a good computer build, you won't have to update for a good couple of years. My friend built his computer I think around 5 years ago and it still runs most games fine. Seems the only exception seems to be Battlefield 3 so far, but even then it can run it on lower settings. Still, most any recent game runs on high at full speed for him. If you find it expensive, you can save a lot of cash by just pirating a lot or using Steam sales. You'll hardly need to buy a single player game for the PC if you pirate, honestly.
I think its cheaper to buy a 360 than a last gen pc. And I hate when you have to download huge files to pirate a game or so.

Nintendo got me interested in the 3DS with the price drop. I was thinking about selling my DSi with a few games and an R4i Ultra that I have (maybe ill buy the acekard 2i) and pay some more bucks to buy a 3DS. But I've read on many websites that the battery really sucks, it has a design flaw (the lack of a 2nd analog stick) and Nintendo would release some kind of "3DS Lite" soon. And I dont think that there are many games for it, people say that the 3D causes headaches, and the ar games get boring.
I'm interested in playing Ocarina of Time 3D, because people say its the best zelda game and I never played a zelda game more than one hour or so.
So, is it really worth it ?
Never got a headache from playing and I'm playing always on the maximum 3D setting. The lack of the 2nd analog stick, well... the DS didn't have an analog stick at all, so I'm happy that the 3DS finally has one. The battery sucks in the same way the DS battery sucked. If you don't have a problem with the DS battery life, you won't have a problem with your 3DS.

The only real problem are the games. Zelda looks like a N64 game, I really feel stupid that I've bought it a 3rd time... Starfox 64 is really pimped, great visuals, but it's the 100% exact same game I've played 15 years ago. Ghost Recon looks like a DS game, Devil Survivor actually IS a DS game, it hasn't even 3D, Ridge Racer, DOA and SF4 are nice but sorry, been there, seen it, done it... the only game I had real fun with was Pilotwings, it's totally underrated IMHO.

So if I wouldn't be a Nintendo idiot, I'd wait until Mario and Mario Kart are out there und would buy it with those 2 games and no other one. Next ones would be Resi and MGS.

I just got my 3DS yesterday and am very happy with it. Got myself a red 3DS, Ocarina of Time, Rayman 3D, an official case and official screen protectors for 160 quid from Amazon. Played it for over two hours straight and no eye strain or headaches so I'm quite happy. Very impressed with it so far.

And I just thought I'd add that there's nothing wrong with the battery life - it's average for a handheld device. You've all been spoilt with the ridiculously good battery life of the original DS.

Going to get Super Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil Mercenaries next.

Definitely worth getting one, you can find them retailing at 125 quid, at that price it's a bargain imo.

WHAT?!! ZELDA LOOKS LIKE AN N64 GAME??!!
IT DOES NOT!
Starfox 64 3D....can't help you there, they didn't really say anything was new, that's why I'm not getting it :P
Ghost recon does looks like one, and Devil Survivor it's really retarded how they tried to sell us the same game twice, with NO 3D at $40
:P DOA is Awesome, and so is SF4, but they're fighting games, of course it's kinda the same.
...I am deeply disturbed you didn't add Sonic Generations to that list, or even Cave story

@ OP If you can wait, don't get it until January, then you can get the good games, and still be able to find it, if demand kicks up.
I got mine early because that was the only time I could have gotten it or else I never would have :(

if you want to look at this monstrosity everytime you play resident evil revelations

then yeah sure get one, but i personally regret buying one, i haven't brought any new games since launch (the games released so far have been complete shite) and i feel angry that i have wasted my money with the inevitable redesign and the extremely high price at launch and then nintendo are rushing out 1st party games for this year to boost 3ds sales the games will suffer because of this as they are not ready yet.

Why is everyone even so certain that a redesign will hit soon?

The Wii was "nonsense" with no dual sticks and just motion sensing, but did it even get a redesign (excluding the EUR one)?

FACEPALM!
YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE IT!
STOP USING THIS AS AN EXAMPLE FOR WHY YOU WON'T GET IT/REGRET BUYING IT!
IT'S SO OTHER DEVELOPERS FEEL BETTER ABOUT THE CONTROL SCHEMES, BUT THEY HAVE TO HAVE A CONTROL SCHEME WITHOUT IT!

Some people just don't get it

I personally have been enjoying mine quite a bit. I own Pilotwings Resort which while not as in-depth as its N64 counterpart is still a really solid and fun game. I've played both Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64 on the 3DS and both of those are really fun (especially just to see what has been re-textured and the like)

Only a problem if you play on the go a lot, even then you can get the battery good by toning down 3D and brightness.
it has a design flaw (the lack of a 2nd analog stick)
There is going to be an OPTIONAL (Everyone read that word) attachment for another slider pad and better controls.
and Nintendo would release some kind of "3DS Lite" soon.
No they will not, it hasn't even been spoken of.
And I dont think that there are many games for it,
Buy it when it gets more games that you want.
people say that the 3D causes headaches,
3D is optional, and it feels about the same as 3D glasses.
and the ar games get boring.
Everything gets boring, but it's just a little interesting app.
I'm interested in playing Ocarina of Time 3D, because people say its the best zelda game and I never played a zelda game more than one hour or so.

If you see a good game you want that is released, then don't look the other way and just go for it.

So far i've felt my 3DS launch purchase was justified with just Devil Survivor: overclocked, so far.

Then there's Tales of the Abyss in november (if it's region free, damn EU), or feb if it isn't.

and some other stuff too.

EDIT: and by the way, you can't ask people if "it's really worth it"
That just shows you are incredibly indecisive and can't form your own opinions.

Y'know how it's worth it? if it has some fucking games you want to play.
Does it?

If it doesn't it's not worth getting.
Why is that difficult to figure out by yourself?

I dont understand how KH would need dual sticks, same with RE.
One for moving, the other for camera navigation (pretty obvious). If you don't have the attachment, the camera navigation will most likely be done with the touch screen.

or it could be used in some games will not work with it while others will....like KH 2nd logo stick could be used for camera angle or any other feature

As to everyone saying the second analog stick "isn't necessary", let me give you an example.

Ever try playing MH3 for the Wii with a Wiimote? It's pretty terrible. And the game was all about advertising for the Classic Controller Pro. I don't know about you, but I have a feeling the CCP (my new abbreviation) is borderline necessary in order to play the game effectively.

Emulators can play games at a playable framerate but can still come out as being "unplayable" by a gamers definition. It's kinda of the same way with this analog stick add on. Some games may not "require" it, but if you want to play it relatively well, you damn sure need it.

But this is all digressing. The topic is about whether the 3DS is worth it's cash. I'd say it's a decent DS upgrade with an analog stick but not worth it for its own library or features. I'd probably buy it only to upgrade my DS. Play some of those games with 3D models and stuff with the slider. Although I honestly can't think of any game I'd enjoy using it with outside of like Super Mario 64.

Hum.. I'm really happy with my 3DS, as for the battery issue... I don't really have a problem with it... It lasts me for around 4 to 6 hours or more (depending on the games) of course, if I put my Dead or Alive Dimensions with the 3D on and brightest 'setttings'((?)forgot the word for it) it'll last only for 3 hours or so, but even so, while you're walking and playing at the same time, you wont have the 3D on, so it should last for a longer time, also, the DS games last much longer than a 3DS one battery wise...

As for the design change, I doubt Nintendo would do such a thing, and I don't really care if they do, my 3DS is sexy enough as it is and since I'm definetly buying Monster Hunter if it comes out in Europe, I'll also get the extra analog thingy (since it comes with the game in japan I guess it'll be the same here)

The only thing I dislike on the 3DS right now, is that there aren't any RPG's for it so far (in Europe that is) and because they decided to region lock the 3DS so I can't play games that come on the US only and vice-versa, I bet lots of games will also be released here and not there, something that usually didn't matter because people could import them and still play them on the DS.

Wait, So KH3D needs better cammera other then the simple "press R to center behind you" system? ._.

Anyway, I think Nintendo is going to have quite a bit of USA ⇔ EURO transfers ,unless the game has similar problems to what prevented Jump from getting a US Release (too many middle-men) or lacks a Euro/Us division, Also I think the O-Pad works pretty good on the KHs and MKDS along with a few others I cant remeber right now.
