as per title,
garage sale, picked it up, great deal, 15 bucks altogether, afterglow pro controller, my choice of several games, plus I could just tell from the mom that was selling it that this had a game inside (of course it was minecraft).

no power cord, no sensor bar, no gamepad.
Obviously, getting a gamepad is a bit of coin but sort of optional.

So, I've checked it with my cords for my primary one, no issues.

What do you think? hold on to it just for parts?
pick up the missing pieces to complete (maybe at some point a wallet-offending gamepad, but the power and sensor bar more specifically)?
resell?

I guess I'll just ask, does anyone just have a spare US power cord that if I pay for shipping youd be so kind as to just gift a fellow enthUsiast? I know some folks have bought broken consoles and might have extra. that'd get me started.

I would definitely keep it as a backup, Wii U consoles seem to be somewhat prone to getting a few filters damaged which prevent them from booting. Mine stopped booting one day after a power outage, but I can't solder and after asking different shops for prices it was cheaper for me to just get a new one.

You can probably get the OEM power cable and gamepad charger for around 20 dollars each, or you could get the third party ones on Amazon for 5 or 6 dollars each, I've seen some people recommend the USB C power cable, but haven't tested it. For the gamepad, Japanese units tend to be cheaper going for around 40 dollars.

thanks those are good suggestions. I wonder how common the filter issue is....and its still a mystery as why they blow out i guess?

It's hard to tell, my first console failed shortly after the outage so I'm guessing that was the cause, my second one has not had any issues at all so far, both are non Hynix 32gb models. Though I would install ISFSHAX on your new console as soon as possible just in case.
