Thanks to the AI RAM shortages, I ended up doing the following:
1) Buy a 5900XT. My 5900X has a faulty core turning it into an 8 core and I'm concerned it could get worse.
https://www.scan.co.uk/products/amd...33ghz-48ghz-turbo-64mb-cache-pcie-40-105w-cpu

The 5900X and 5950X seem to have gone EOL, at least where I live.

My original plan was to try and wait another year and do a full upgrade, but AI had to slop all over that plan.

I thought about getting an Intel 14th Gen CPU but that has it's own issues e.g. I'd need a new cooler bracked andmy current 64GB RAM isn't on QVL when frankly I'm dealing with enough ****. I can also move stuff around in the future e.g. move the 5900XT into my 3700X server.

Since the 5900X still works but gimped, I'm going to move that into a new server build:
1) New Asus B550-F motherboard:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B089HFR9CX
2) The cheapest turd of a case I could find which can have 6 HDDs one way or another in it because anything half decent was either over double the price or minimalist RGB gamer cases when 'practical' ones were a dime a dozen a decade ago:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BV8JU96?ref=ppx
3) An Intel Arc A380 (for transcoding), went with this because the LP might have future uses and the A310's I could find weren't that much cheaper or would have to be imported:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CSFJZ8QZ

Fortunately I have an old PSU I can put into this and 16GB DDR4 ECC RAM from an RMA a few years back which will be enough for what I want to do.

Another advantage is that I could move my current thin client/USB DAS backup server to my parents and use that as a firewall since unraid is having PCIe passthrough issues thanks to a bug in the HP Gen8 bios.

Another «Reverse Engineering» puzzle. I saw this puzzle on the @cubypuzzle youtube channel and dare myself to recreate it.

First I used BurrTools knowing the 12 pieces are equal (is on the video) and assuming all measures are cubes, I was able to recreate the puzzle and find a solution.

Then exported the BurrTools file to OpenSCAD with the PuzzleCAD library and created a STL file with tolerances and precise measures. then the printing was a piece of cake

I already learned to disassembly, but the assembly is other thing.

I bought 4 DS game carts in the past 2 weeks and spent a total of 240RMB($35).
ANA cart(YANJ) seems to be very rare, and I’m lucky to have gotten it^_^.
Suguroku DS(すぐろくDS, BK5J) is just a client and cannot be used..a lemon:unsure:..If anyone wants to research save file, I uploaded it.
I also uploaded the save file of the Wireless Distribution Box(AAFA) for research purposes.
.
.
The WDB carts in the photo is the same as the 'Nintendo Zone Wireless Distribution Box DS Card (World) (Rev 2) (Wi-Fi Kiosk)' rom, save file is 256KB.
(It seems that the save files are only used to record servers you want to connect to periodically, and even restoring a corrupted save has no effect, as it won't create a new save.)

Flashcart(e.g.AK2i) can run rom, save file is 512KB.
TWiLightMenu++27.5.0 can run rom, save file is 128KB.

TWiLightMenu++27.21.0 cannot run rom, white screen (recent version of TWiLightMenu++ cannot run).
Unlaunch cannot run rom, black screen.

Well after some days of CADing, measuring, print test parts, a trip to Homecenter (Homedepot) for sliding rails and 2 kilograms of filament I almost get done a rack for my filament.

Until now, my filament was stored on a big closet one spool on top the others, so if I need a specific spool, I had to take all the spools and then put them back, with this rack I can take only the roll I need!

The idea is make 3 of them but, well, I run out of black filament ha ha ha

Ah by the way no mater how many times I did measured all, I had to print some small bushings because the printed part ended being 9 mm shorter than the actual space between the installed sliding rails. As my father used to say, measure three times, cut one, test, throw everything and start again!

Damn, that's a tall order, but glad you got it worked out, and that motherboard kicks more ass than a horse jockey!

Funny you should post now, my old Windows key decided it didn't like my new CPU (fortunately I have spares) and the Intel Arc is being a PITA, I may have to return it but the replacement is another £20 and that's still a good buy looking around.

Quick update, as well as a warning for anyone in a similar position in regards to the Windows license.

The GPU itself is still struggling at boot, what doesn't help is that UEFI keeps re-enabling settings and the UI not actually reflecting the settings e.g. I enable Resize Bar, the GUI says it's enabled but because of the constant reboots it's re-enabling CSM without warning me which also disables Resize Bar.

I did manage to install the driver, which from what I've read should have also updated the firmware, the latter of which I was hoping would fix this.

I'm just going to wait now for the other card I ordered.

As for the windows license.....turns out it got transfered to the new machine as I temporarily needed Windows to do said firmware update.

I don't know how it happened, either the fresh Rufus made Windows On-The-Go USB drive also transferred the license (which would be news to me) or MS used the CPU as the basis for the activation rather than a combination of hardware like I'd expect.

If the latter is true, it makes me wonder if any second hand CPUs also come with a 'free' Windows license?

I ended up logging into the install using my MS account and making sure it's linked to my account, so hopefully in the future I will be able to re-use that license.

Massgrave is your only bet into permanently activating Windows; it's free and you don't need to spend extra bucks on a new license. I think Microsoft's licensing scheme is pretty scummy and they haven't changed it since (it's been discussed on one of LTT's videos before). Depends on how many times you swap the hardware, but one misstep can tell you that you need to activate Windows again because it thinks it's another computer, to which then you'd have to contact Microsoft for support which they may or may not assist with your request.

I made an update above, turned out the license somehow got transferred to the new system because I temporarily needed windows to update the GPU's firmware.

I re-logged into my MS account, so hopefully that will now be on standby when I need it.
