As I've said before, self hatred can be healthy
Just like in evaluating projects, such as a movie or a painting, it's healthy to be constructively critical. I think it's prudent to be able to look outside oneself and evaluate one's own behavior. That's why sitcom characters can act so exaggerated and, at the same time, be so relatable. They help us question why we do the things we do.

Ideally, we want to find the unhealthy influences in our lives: those things that cultivate negative thoughts and emotions.

There are long-term dangers to being unbalanced in one's self-assessments. I don't want to go into all the different risk factors, but let's say they start with depression and get worse from there. It's just not a healthy way to carry on.

Have you been taking any steps to think positively? Cognitive Reframing events you think about often? Physical exercise, such as a 20-minute yoga session a few times a week? Meditation? Getting about eight hours of uninterrupted sleep?

Dunno what cognitive reframing events are, yoga and meditation are irritating, and I often sleep 8+ hours
I became aware of Cognitive Reframing by reading My Name is Mahtob. Here's a blurb from Verywellmind.com:
Cognitive reframing is a technique used to shift your mindset so you're able to look at a situation, person, or relationship from a slightly different perspective. Cognitive reframing is something that you can do at home or anytime you experience distorted thinking.
In my youth, I would have disregarded such concepts, but as I've gotten older and witnessed a greater variety of behavior, I can see the potential in a method that asks us to think outside ourselves.

I figured, if you're upset with yourself, it may have been from key moments that you frequently replay in your mind. Trying to see a situation from another's perspective can be (potentially) advantageous.

Unpopular Opinion: We need to bring "Microsoft Minute" back to describe progress bars that get to 99% and stall out.

That's kind of universally considered bad and people like that are considered massive assholes.
Ok but when my mom and grandma insult me or act passively-aggresively no one complains about that, but probably bc we are rarely visited by people who arent our relatives

I find the Tomb Raider games boring. Travel to point A, solve easy puzzle. Travel to point B, repeat. Be better if she was in a bikini atleast.

Both are annoying as hell.
I have a question on that. Back in the old days, we had no choice but to listen to what radio stations broadcasted. Going to the mall during the holiday season was pretty much required, and again, you'd be subjected to whatever music played over the sound system.

In today's world of smartphones, Amazon, etc., do you still run into the infamous Christmas songs as frequently? If not, do they still deserve the same disdain as 30 years ago?

The real heroes are the ones that work in retail. I highly sympathize with these employees because I'm familiar with the "economical soundtracks." (That remix of Big Yellow Taxi, Upside Down, everything Frank Sinatra, etc.) I think today, holiday music is more varied for broader appeal, but again, the economical remixes of classics bubble to the top.

Sorry for the double post, but this occurred to me while I was talking about the brain and game design. Is it an unpopular opinion to say that Arkham Asylum's boss battles are repetitive?

As solid as the game is, I'm not a fan of bosses retreating so the player can fight a bunch of regular enemies. In AA, these bits are followed up with a "charge up + dash into the wall" pattern. Even the final boss uses this design. I know the game has some boss fights that are distinctly different, like the Killer Croc encounter. Maybe I'm being unfair to the game.

It's been over about 15 years since I played through AA, but I'm interested to hear everyone's opinion.

The older versions had mods that allowed you to have her naked iirc. Although why would you want that?
