Tried them in Ryubing. I don't have the 1.2 update.

SMG1 boots, get into game, and crashes at the first cutscene where Bowser arrives. SMG2 didn't boot at all.

I managed to make smg1 boot, didn't go past choose save file screen. didn't know it would crash again at bowser's scene. will check it later. smg2 did not boot as well. If you find a way to make it work, please let me know how

Did anyone check if the update works on 19.x after being patched as previously discussed?
I can try. I'll report back after a bit

Alright, I patched the update for Galaxy 1 and the game boots up. I even played the intro for a bit and it works. I'm assuming Galaxy 2 will work as well, but I'll patch it as well and report back.

Edit: Galaxy 2 works as well

Still waiting for my physical cart to arrive. I'm on FW 19, sysMMC and emuMMC. What are my options to play this legally on emuMMC? AFAIK these are the options:
  • Not an option: cartridge requires FW 20.1.5.0 and won't run.
  • Option 1: update emuMMC FW (using Daybreak?) so I can play the cartridge.
  • Option 2: dump my cartridge and install the dump using Sphaira (or another tool) with the 'Lower system version' option.
  • Option 3: dump my cartridge, patch the FW requirement with SAK (or another tool) and install it using Sphaira (or another tool).
Am I correct? Option 2 would be the easiest if I want to stay on FW 19.

You can probably do this and it should work. DarkKRPG confirmed that it should work after patching on 19.x.x. No need to update your emuMMC firmware.

How about installing a patched NSP? I've tried that before and it failed because of the broken signature.

program nca for the updates use sdk 18 so it should probably work on 18.1 not just 19

interesting is that the meta uses sdk 21, fw 21 soon?
I wonder how they'll make the OS worse this time....

Option 3 seems to be the best one. Keep in mind that they cannot be installed with something like Awoo (it returns an error) but can be installed with DBI. The update, patched with SAK, surprisingly works with Awoo though.

Got the 1.2 update for both titles and I've got FW 20.5 loaded into Ryubing. I'm running a 12700k with a 4090.

SMG1
  • Game will often crash the emulator while attempting to load regardless of settings.
  • Cannot get game to boot at all
SMG2
  • Game will often crash the emulator while attempting to load regardless of settings.
  • Setting to CPU to Host instead of Host Unchecked will sometimes allow the game to boot. Changing to Host allows game to boot. I tried changing it back to see if maybe compiling shaders while set to Host will allow it to boot using Host Unchecked, but it didn't.
  • The first time I got the game to boot with the above setting, there we performance issues. Slowdowns occurred during intro level area and then it hovered around 45 fps when I get to the first actual level.

How are things over on Eden's court?

I got them to boot on Eden mobile but only to check whether or not the leaks were legitimate

So idk if they crash or have other issues

I don't have Eden installed. Ryubing works well enough for me that I haven't seen to the need to give a try yet. I may give it a shot in the future.

SAK is too much hassle. I was able to install my cart using DBI and then 'Reset required version' patched the games to run on any supported firmware. They run fine on 19 so far!
