Absolute 💩💩💩. When you think about Final Fantasy, you forget that this game exist because it's trash. Just like you forget about the trashy Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

The first final fantasy I ever played was 13, and that was honestly soured me on the franchise a lot. It was just so bad. 15 sucked, 16 as grim dark bs.

However I'm finding everything before 13 has a nice charm to it. I think its because the talent at square left to form mistwalker. I loved the retro games Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey just awesome fun battle systems and story. Losy Odyssey feels like the real spiritual successor to the really old snes,ds, psx, ps2 games.
I ended up really enjoyed ff12 way more than I expected.

It's pretty funny that you ended up starting with the worst one, and impressive that you didn't bin the entire franchise based on that experience.

My dad loves the older games, and bought me them on a steam sale, so it was family thing to play the older ones. They have charm for sure, and its interesting to see the history. It's super clear the heart and soul of final fantasy left with the form ff crew now at mistwalker.
Now FF just means zippers, and retarded hair and outfits, and z-grade anime stories with no heart and internal logic. ff16 was a good try to do a reset, but man too grim dark. Grimdark, Sexual slavery stuff, and death of good guys in world where we already have Jeffrey Epstein, ethnic cleansing, etc in gaza is too much.

The game was out on PS1, except the unit death scream all audio is from the remaster.
What does that have to do with me preferring Japanese dubs in Japanese games?
I do not care about English dubs in Japanese games, the same way I play Wukong in Chinese and Stellar Blade in Korean (giving some recent examples). I did play Clair Obscure in English, since that was the original dub language rather than the studio's native french.
