Nintendo is increasing the price of the Switch and other accessories in the US

As a result of "market conditions", Nintendo has decided to increase the price of a number of products. Starting August 3rd, all original Nintendo Switch models (including the OLED and Lite) will see a price hike, in addition to the Alarmo, amiibo, and other Switch and Switch 2 accessories. The Nintendo Switch 2 and its games will not see any price changes, at this time, though Nintendo does state that price adjustments to those items might still happen in the future. Nintendo did not specify what the new prices will be in the United States--at the time of writing, a Switch OLED Edition retails for $349.99, a Lite retails for $199.99, and the original Switch model is priced at $299.99.

[UPDATE] American retailer Target has already changed the prices of the Nintendo Switch units on its website, ahead of the date Nintendo specified. Currently, the original Switch has an MSRP of $339.99, the OLED is $399.99, and the Lite is $229.99.

do you want the switch 2 to cost more instead? and you know why. vote better next time

Don't drag politics into this. Prices have been increasing for a while now. First it was things like PS+ and Gamepass, and a while back Microsoft increased Xbox prices. And it isn't just game developers, take Disney + for example, how much those prices rose.

It has nothing to do with any politics. For Nintendo, I would guess it's to de-motivate people from getting a Switch 1, and pushing them to a switch 2 instead.

you dont vote for someone just so you can afford a toy. if thats why you vote you probably shouldnt have the right to do so imo.

I did not present it as a fact, but as a possible explanation, hence the "I would guess" part.

Even at just under 1 million, those are still a lot of sales, seeing how old the Switch is. So it still is a possibility.

If anything, it seems you're spitting "tinfoilhat" theories, and are butthurt because people don't buy them.

if anything theyd want to get rid of their old stock and just not produce the switch 1 anymore
