Nintendo is increasing the price of the Switch and other accessories in the US

As a result of "market conditions", Nintendo has decided to increase the price of a number of products. Starting August 3rd, all original Nintendo Switch models (including the OLED and Lite) will see a price hike, in addition to the Alarmo, amiibo, and other Switch and Switch 2 accessories. The Nintendo Switch 2 and its games will not see any price changes, at this time, though Nintendo does state that price adjustments to those items might still happen in the future. Nintendo did not specify what the new prices will be in the United States--at the time of writing, a Switch OLED Edition retails for $349.99, a Lite retails for $199.99, and the original Switch model is priced at $299.99.

[UPDATE] American retailer Target has already changed the prices of the Nintendo Switch units on its website, ahead of the date Nintendo specified. Currently, the original Switch has an MSRP of $339.99, the OLED is $399.99, and the Lite is $229.99.

Just making Steam Deck look like the better budget buy here.
With the increases they could fit in a Micro Switch here now the budget buy isnt so budget anymore.

So...y'all want to switch to PC gaming? The price gap is smaller. Looks like consoles are catching up to PC's like they said, at least in terms of expenses.
Nope, I'm not switching to P.C. gaming either. Games on that platform are also poorly coded messes a lot of times, with their own absurdly demanding hardware requirements because of the poor code. I am mostly sticking to older games. The only game I care about right now is Metroid Prime 4. Other than that, I'm fine with playing older games.

Responding to both here since this relates to both, but it says quite a lot when even mid-high range computers can't run games like Dragon's Dogma 2 or Monster Hunter Wilds well (due to being so poorly optimized that only high-end PCs have any hope of brute-forcing their way through that), and some newer games can't even run on a Steam Deck well (I have a Steam Deck myself, so I'm well aware of this). It's funny how people are so eager to parrot the "Steam Deck is the Switch killer" vibes, yet completely ignore the fact that the thing was already showing its age once the hype for it died down. And even that's ignoring the fact that the only real advertising it has outside of Steam is word of mouth.

I'm not huge on handheld computers, but I do think the whole "age" thing is a crutch. Hardware can be older and still be viable for many things. My current computer is seven years old, and it's still able to play many good games out there. The problem is most of the user base is glued to more modern games, and the one thing about modern games, they aren't coded well at all. Due to this, I don't think the Steam Deck gets a fair shake. I feel the same way even with the Nintendo Switch, because that platform has gotten a lot of dogshit game releases day one. Way too many people blame the hardware for the software problems, which is already illogical all by itself. This is extremely evident even in the computer scene, when John or Jane is bragging about their over the top gaming rig, doesn't even have the hardware for a year, and is already looking to upgrade. All because "it isn't doing what I want." People need to STOP scaling hardware based on how well shitty software performs.

In all honestly, I think most people know it's software that's the issue, not the hardware. I just think a lot of consumers are excessively needy (actually I'm not even sure that's the right way to phrase it, I'll just call it for what I feel makes the most sense, they want too fucking much), and ungrateful, taking what they have for granted. They can't even complain over the right shit.

Nintendo isn't what Nintendo was. Since the death of Satoru Iwata-san, Nintendo lost their mind. What made Nintendo so special was their uniqueness in the way they created their consoles/games. But now? I fell like they lost their charm and only are bootlicking their investors.
The DYKG video put words into what I thought, you can compare the presentations of the Switch 1 and the Switch 2 and see how wildly different they are

They 100% shifted away from their "old spirit", and the video about them saying that "now they can go even further with Iwata's vision !!!" is pretty disgusting

switch 2 was just too good nintendo need to release new revision to address all the issues the current 1 has or they die simple
