I think now is a good time to put my fictional internet money where my mouth is. Because the way things are going, if this was all fictional story, I would call it foreshadowing.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjd2de8zz5go
"This is not a situation where we are asking for anything in return for testimony or anything like that," Maxwell's attorney David Markus said on Friday. "Of course, everybody knows Ms. Maxwell would welcome any relief."
"we would never ask for help in return for testimony... but she would be grateful, as everyone is saying but not me in particular..."
US President Donald Trump was asked on Friday whether he would consider giving Maxwell clemency. He said he was allowed to do so but had "not thought" about it.
"i haven't really thought about it either way, as in i'm also not against it...i guess I could... what could help me decide... "

Reading between the lines a little, especially when compared to how hostile Trump has been to everything else Epstein of late... He's being remarkably nice to Maxwell, isn't he? Why? Is he just being his usual charitable, kind, benevolent self, or is he hoping to get something out of all this?

So yeah, let's play a fun guessing game. If I'm wrong, then I can take that as a lesson that baseless conspiratorial thinking is very easy to fall into and affects me as well.
If I'm right, uh, I dunno. I'll laugh at how blatant it was?

The poll seems to be anonymous, I don't think I can see who votes what... So feel free to vote no and then come up with some justification later if he does, I'll never know.

Considering he’s on the list, I think he’s going to pardon her to protect his own ass
But everyone already knows he's on the list, Trump an Epstein were friends in the 90s and there's references to this in these files.

Glad to see you are finally living in reality and accept that Trump is a monstrous pedo. As for my reasoning to believe he will pardon her, he's a shortsighted moron who is going to try to throw everyone else in front of the bus in a desperate attempt to cover his ass. He's already lied in his claims to release the files, lied that the files don't exist, lied that Obama and the Democrats made them, and now he's poking at the idea of pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell. He wasn't just hanging out with Epstein because they were friends. No one goes through this much shit if they are innocent.

Lol @ the people saying no, she's already been given limited immunity. Pedos of a feather stick together, and since Trump is definitely not going to release the Epstein files, he views her scripted testimony as the only way to get people to quiet down about this subject. Ultimately though, a pardon should and will piss everybody off even more, as that would be the equivalent of an explicit endorsement of child sex trafficking.

He's doing all the same things he did before he went and pardoned all the Jan 6th traitors. Says he has the ability to pardon them if he wants to. Painted them as victims. Then pardoned them all, even the police assaulters. All to the shock and dismay of everyone. The GOP pontificated on the morality of it, but still never flat-out denounced it. Anyone who is sane and believes in the rule of law was disgusted.

It'll happen all again.

Man... we are grasping at straws here aren't we...

Trump is still a piece of shit btw. And probably a pedophile

Nothing you can say to attack other members can change that fact

I do wonder if this story will even reach a satisfying conclusion that isn't "There was never an island to begin with" type of shit lol

"You still believe in islands? lol"

That's their exact mentality.

Whataboutisms, distractions, and redirection are all the Trump cult has in its toolbox. If those fail, then it's outright denial. It's sad how predictable they have become.

Initially I wasn't sure if it would have been a full pardon or just a heavily reduced sentence. But every single time Trump is asked what he plans to do, he just answers it with "I do HAVE the authority to pardon her, you know". So yeah, buckle your seat belts...

The people who have accused Epstein of abusing and raping them as well as their lawyers have continually stated that Maxwell needs to remain in prison and that everything she says should be ignored because she is a serial liar who will do and say anything to get out of prison. They want the original unredacted Epstein files be released, the ones Trump is preventing from coming out due to it incriminating himself and allies of his. They're not interested in Maxwell's BS which is being cobbled together to try and get both her and Trump out of trouble. That GOP scumbag in the video above outright admits this is what is happening on camera. Right wing media have been given notice and their new spin is "Maxwell was actually innocent, free her." It's a conspiracy between a bunch of pedophiles to try and cross-exonerate each other and suppress the actual evidence that confirms what they did. Remains to be seen whether it'll work.

There are two ways this could go-

1- Trump gets Maxwell to say that he was never involved with Epstein, but she stops short of naming anyone who was. This will almost certainly backfire on Trump and make things 100x worse for him. Everyone knows he's performing what is likely THE most obvious and heinous criminal coverup in presidential history. If this is all he gets out of the pardoning of a child sex trafficker, it just makes him look even more guilty. He needs an actual distraction to get the spotlight away from him, and this will do the exact opposite.

2- He agrees to selectively name Democrats who raped children in addition to the above (the original unredacted Epstein files would have done this in a more measured and unbiased way than the word of a proven serial liar and abuser of children who is looking to bullshit herself out of prison). This play has a chance of working however because it takes the spotlight away from Trump and places it on other people. The media will do a lot of the work here and help to bury the coverup and original Epstein files. Forgetting that he is still refusing to release the original unredacted files that contains the actual truth, forgetting that Maxwell is herself a massive liar who sexually abused children, forgetting that Trump is still trying to hide his own obvious sex crimes.

Number 2 also has its own risks due to blowing open the dam and inviting lawsuits. But at this point, it might be the only slight chance Trump has of dodging the crosshairs.

To be fair, I could see him doing a heavily reduced sentence as a de-facto pardon. I dunno, something like six months in prison. That way he obfuscates the headlines a little. I don't think even MAGA would believe her being completely innocent, but six months would let Trump sell a narrative that while she was involved, it was all heavily overblown by the Democrats Obama etc etc and she's been so cooperative anyway!

So yeah, probably should have accounted for that possibility when making the poll, but oh well.

They could give her a similar sweetheart deal that Epstein was given in his initial arrest in 2008. 13 months in prison, but only had to stay there during the night. He was released during the day and allowed to go about his business and do whatever he wanted. I also don't think him having to spend nights there was heavily enforced either. It was basically a nothing sentence.

That said, Trump REALLY seems like he's signaling that he might do a full pardon, not just a reduced sentence or something. He keeps beating his chest every time they ask him about it, saying he has the legal right to pardon her if he decides to. At this point, he may well do it out of spite.

If given the choice between...
A. Do the morally right thing
and
B. Do whatever pisses off the most people / gets the most lulz

He'll do B. Again and again.

Yes, he'll pardon her. Because why not? It's not like MAGA is going to stop him...

Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been moved from a Florida prison to a new minimum-security facility in Texas, authorities have confirmed.

The move comes as Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, has pressed the Supreme Court to overturn her conviction while also seeking a pardon from President Donald Trump.
I wonder what reason could be so important to go ahead with this move? Like, surely they realise how this looks, right in the middle of a scandal?
