Hardware Dumb question, but is safe to use controllers paired with a hacked Switch on the Switch 2?

Like the official Nintendo controllers from the NSO subscription, N64, SNES, NES pair, SEGA? Or the Joy Cons for that matter. They've also been updated with a CFW Switch and i do not wish to get banned because i neglected my safety by using controllers from a hacked Switch on a legit Switch 2.

That's a good question, and afaik these controllers don't collect telemetry that would tell another system they've been updated from a cfw Switch. As long as the updates to the controllers are Nintendo approved and distributed, the controllers would appear as devices that were updated correctly. It wouldn't make sense to carry data about the system that updated the controllers because it wastes space.

I don't think Nintendo would care about serial numbers from Joycons, controllers, or any of that details. Think about it if this was the case Nintendeo has the largest malware outbreak with no remediation. Nothing is stopping malicious actors from mass buying joycons or controllers and ruining the entire network functionality of the switch or switch 2.

Not dumb really... especially with how ridiculously far N has gone in locking down their new S2 controllers. But in this case i think it shouldn't be a problem.

I personally dont think this is a thing, just think about it. You could take your controller over to someone's house not knowing their switch was hacked. Pair your controller to the system and have the firmware updated, just to take the controller back home and have your switch banned.

Really dont think it's that deep but dont put it past Nintendo to do Nintendo things.

Where did you hear about the locking down of the controller?
I tested it myself along with the new GC controller. I cant get any BT other than S2 to read them. idk if the signal is encrypted or something or it a very new BT standard not yet supported. Wired does work though.

There are multiple people in the Reswitch discord RE'ing the bluetooth protocol and are able to connect to the controller via BT. I'm sure it's just a protocol or radio issue, since it uses BTLE standard.

Ah, ok thank you for the info good sir. I havent had any time to tinker further since initial testing. Good to know.

Imagine getting your console banned because of a controller that was used on a hacked console. What a mess it would cause...
Same with the playing a local multiplayer with both stock and hacked console. I'm yet to hear that someone got their consoles banned this way and, honestly, it would be a really bad practice.
