I've managed to patch my copy of the game using the riivolution iso builder.

I have a question, apparently it has worked. It says deluxe and by aurum on the title screen, but when the game starts for the first time I cannot choose my skin tone. the dialog doesn't appear, and i've wathed a gameplay that shows where it should appear that dialog. i know it doesn't appear. the game plays normally and the deluxe options appear. everything apparently is there, but i dont understand that... makes me think that i might be missing other things.

I dont know the usual workflow of the game, i downloaded for my wife that liked the ds one, so we have no more references that the ones on the web. All i can say is that the dots in the dialog boxes appear. Are we missing something here?

As an update: I've been trying different versions of the game and different revisions (1.0 or 1.1). Couldn't test all of them but with the usa version in 1.0 i've managed to use classic controller. I know some said to disable it, but at least to me its working. Just with the downloaded files from the mod i enable it and it works. It is my firs time doing this kind of stuff and english is not my first language, so sorry in advance if i didnt understood the conversation

Pro tip: Don't use Riivolution ISO builder. My mod won't work with that due to technical limitations. Your only options are playing with Riivolution on a console or on emulator.

if you guys used the 'nintendo selects' cut of the game that would likely be the reason. in the meantime i got a non-'selects' copy which does the job.

in a future update it'll probably be fixed.
I am having the same issue using an original 'nintendo selects' edition disc, gets to the loading screen with the bus in the corner but doesn't go any further. Is there likely to be a fix? Very keen to try this mod out. If no fix is imminent, perhaps OP could update the 'compatibility' notes?

will this support local multiplayer in the future
This is not planned, no. The multiplayer system is already complicated enough. Playing via internet is the easiest and best option.

does this also has the new special characters beyond city folk like isabelle?
Aside from the many new villagers there are no new special characters.

Is the download link on the official site currently removed?
It was down for a day in preparation for the new update that's just been released!

And isn't it possible to use a backup along with the mod? My Wii has trouble reading my original discs and I sometimes lose my patience. I can upload a photo with my original game as proof in case you think I don't have it.

You only have these two options:
  • via Disc and Riivolution
  • via Dolphin and Riivolution

Thanks for all your hard work. Is it not possible to use wit tools and patch an .iso, so the mod is self-contained in a disc image
I think it's still possible and I'm gonna test it when I have some free time. Although the code has been rewritten. We'll see

If anyone could run the mod without using a real disc please tell me, I'm getting crazy trying to make this mod work 😔
It didn't work with riivolution to iso builder, but there is another tool which might work. It's called hoshi iso builder. Unfortunately it didn't run for me. Maybe we have some experts here who can make it work. This can be the most promising route

man, I get it

"use riivolution or dolphin" is a good policy on the surface but with how many wii drives are bad, come on

I tried V1.1.0 on a fresh homebrewed wii (which needed a replacement drive...!) and the 'selects edition' disc works fine. Thanks for all the work you've put in here. I hope that as many people as possible can enjoy playing with the mod.
