There have been a lot of games in gaming history, that have been known to be bad, or have been hated by the majority. Which of those games, did yoi actually enjoy?

Two that comes to mind for me:

Superman 64. I was a huge Superman fan in those days, and won the game in a contest. I still play it every year. It's bad on a technical level, but I do enjoy it.

WCW Backstage Assault. Started playing this half a year ago, and loved it. Yeah it has issues, but nothing better than beating someone with an urinal. I've played over a hundred hours on it.

Off teh top of my head.

FF XIII, it was nice to play when I was bored but still wanted to do something because of it's relatively easy gameplay.

Sonic Unleashed, over a decade ago now after watching a Let's Play and knowing what to expect, it wasn't that bad although still a flawed game.....or does this no longer count thanks to the recomp project?

On a side note, whilst I loath the game, I know of someone who enjoyed Sonic 06.

I don't know what qualifies as "generally hated" but I do know I thought Pokémon Shield was enjoyable when I played through it. Far from my favorite game in the series, even one of my least favorites, but not a bad game.

Capcom Fighting Evoluion/Jam. People hate that game because of how jank it is when there are other fighting games that are as jank or in some cases more jank than it.

Genuinely curious about this game, considering how unbalanced it looks lool. It's getting re-released next week, so maybe I'll try it out.

'Sonic The Hedgehog: Genesis' (for GBA) is a gem in my opinion, and lots of people hate it. I love it as a work of failed art, it's very fun to play it, watching a thing fall apart by itself xD

It's based on the Java remake of Sonic 1 for cellphones, so you can imagine how accurate to the Genesis game it is xD

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
This is a spin-off game from the series that is disliked for being too easy, as if this is supposed to be a bad thing.
The game is full of goofy dialogs and has a banger soundtrack, and it is actually a lot of fun to play, what to not love?

Hmm... Not hated, but still...

Rayman origins wasn't a bad platformer, but came out at the same time as NSMB wii. It was, and still is, the better game.

No man's sky. This is an easy one: overhype. As if a tiny indie studio could do everything better than an AAA studio. Bought it much later, played it for what it is rather for what others hopes it would be.

I presume it's not the same game, but original gameboy also has a game called'Mystic quest' that was awesome. It didn't had time combat and iirc it wasn't tied to final fantasy.

I second Mystic Quest. It's been a long time, but I remember it being a decent game on its own merits. JRPG fans should at least give it an honest try before making a judgement.

I go to bat for this one often here on the forums. It's a fun, flawed Metal Gear Solid-inspired third person stealth action game. It has a great soundtrack and good graphics. If you don't go in with high expectations, you just might find the game worthwhile.

You can skip the live action cutscenes. I still haven't watched them, though I've played the game through multiple times.

I don't know if I'd go as far as to say the game is hated, but Digimon Rumble Arena gets criticized as being "too simplistic" as a fighting game, as it was made for children... But it's still one of my favorite games to play unironically, and I love using it to benchmark PS1 emulators and FPGA cores with.
