In the best of the cases will work on Switch 2 as a Switch 1 game BUT NEVER AS A SWITCH 2 GAME. the Switch 2 can read original Switch cartridges BUT WILL RUN ON AN EMULATOR, the new games will use ANOTHER cartridges with another format and different storage.

I pre ordered The Mig Flash way back on April 1st 2024 never got it when i was originally supposed to . hardly any replies from customer support .then boom a few days ago they replied and they sent it out and i got it Today

I orded a MIg Flash from a US reseller from the Mig Flash reseller list on Nov 21, 2024 and even after numerous emails that they never responded to I finally got the order Jan 30, 2025. In the meantime I ordered the combo pack from another reseller and contacted my credit card company to file a dispute. So I now have 2 Mig Flash flash carts and 2 dumpers. That dispute never went through.

For me I sent them an email telling them to either send what I paid for or refund my money otherwise I will file a chargeback with my credit card company. A few days later is when the items were sent. Coincidence? I think not.

yeah it can imitate switch carts, but they probably put even more security on switch 2 carts that mig cant handle yet (and probably never will, it might need new hardware)

Physically the new cartridges have even different pin-out, the reader have the pins for old and new carts, something like MMC and SD

MMC+plus:

SD vs old MMC

so a mmc reader can read SD cards and MMC and a MMC+ reader can read all three but a MMC only reader can not read SD nor MMC+

they could make a new board with the right pin layout, but I don't think that would be enough. after mig switch nintendo would be stupid to not have more security on switch 2 carts that needs to be cracked before a flashcart can properly spoof switch 2 carts

at least you can still run switch 2 editions of games with mig I guess, as long as you don't use shared files so you dont get banned. I imagine a ban would prevent you from downloading updates too like on switch 1

The team in charge of developing MigFlash, the MigSwitch team, has just announced through their X.com profile that their workaround is indeed compatible with the Switch 2.

For this, it announces that "the compatibility of Mig Flash with Nintendo Switch 1 games on Nintendo Switch 2 is confirmed thanks to the console's backward compatibility."

Another important piece of information is that it announces that a new Mig Dumper (or a firmware update, this remains to be specified) is being developed, in order to potentially allow the saving of Switch 2 games.

Of course, until the console is officially in the hands of users and owners of MigFlash, it is difficult to say that everything will work in the same way, but it is clear that this information will probably accelerate sales, given the price of the Switch 2 games, in addition taking into account the particularity of the microSD Express.

My MIG Flash slowly blinks red 3 times then my switch says the cartridge could not be read, at which point the LED goes off. This happens with an without an SD card inserted. Do I have a bad unit?

I assume you have the microSD card formatted in exFAT? If so can you post a screenshot of the root directory od the microSD card and a game .XCI folder?

Yes, will do either much later today or tomorrow. I have a wedding to get to and am out of time to look at this

I will add that the title of the folder from the dumper is just the title I'd of the game with no name. Is this expected? Does it need to be renamed?

Imagine taking your MIG Switch flashcart to the one of the conventions where people could try out the Switch 2 before release. Can they even access the game card slot?

That looks fine. Can you check the format of the microSD card to confirm it's exFAT. Just right-click on the drive and then click Properties. If it's FAT32 you need to reformat it as exFAT.

Yeah just double checked. I did notice the SD card had two partitions at first, but I cleaned the disk and reformated and have the same issue

Have you tried a different microSD card? It could just be incompatible or a fake.
