Series S Internal SSD Upgrade

OP here, lost access to my account so I made a new one.

Did a 2 TB drive this time. Learned it's pretty simple too, all you need to clone is the first partition, do the OSU, then do a factory reset once you get to the dashboard.

I use ones from Xbox themselves, like this one came from a broken galaxy black console, but I've read all you have to do is get one with the same controller.

Can you put that 2 tb ssd on your pc and use cristaldisk to see the model number with pics please?

Since I had the xbox apart again I wanted to see if I could go back to the original 512 GB drive, that didn't work. Tried to clone the first partition to another 1 TB drive I had and that didn't work either.

I wonder if Microsoft has something that stops you from going down in size?

The first RAW partition will be changed after updating. After that, only the actual drive is accepted by the Xbox. Other ssds, even if they were accepted before, will not work anymore.

If you want to use the old original ssd again (for whatever reasons) you have to copy the actual RAW partition from the actual ssd.

I did try cloning the new raw partition with no luck.
Kinda sucks as I put this drive in just to fart around and really have no need for a 2 TB series S.

Yes created an image with the disk manager in linux mint.

No it's just an image of the first raw partition, just a 1 GB image.

No it wrote back fine the xbox just didn't boot.

Yes it is, my bad. My point was those after market expansion port adapters used to work with generic ssd drives, then MS somehow patched them to no longer work with unlicensed ssd. But since OP had ssd from a actual broken Series X, was curious if it would work in the adapter for expansion slots since it was an official ssd.
And if it did work, could we find those specific ssd and buy the after market adapter, cheaper than the overpriced official expansion cards sold by MS currently. Also no tearing apart your Series console and voiding the warranty.
