I just bought BO2 on steam and have it installed. Every game including Far cry 5 and new dawn and doom 2016 boot fine.

I cannot get BO2 to launch. Does anyone have any idea to get this to boot?

I have tried proton 9:20 9:16 9:09 and experimental

I had to try and boot it with no compatibility layer about 10 times. Then it booted Everytime just fine.

I found out that I had to be online even to play offline bots so returned it to steam and will not ever buy it again until they fix that mess. Same thing with far cry 5 and New Dawn.

It sounds like BO2 might not be working well with certain Proton versions. Try verifying the game files in Steam to make sure they’re not corrupted. You could also try adjusting the launch options or using a different Proton version, like 6.3-8, which has worked for some people.

Black ops 2 requires you to be online at all times in order for the game to run. I got it to run by trying to boot it about 20 times. I think I used proton experimental or 9:24. Either way I don't want to game that forces you to be online so it got returned. I really wanted it only for bots, but that's not going to happen. I am more interested in booting the Xbox 360 version at this point.
