The website's database, including all ROM hacks and other content uploaded to the site, has been preserved on archive.org. In addition, the site will remain up in a read-only state.

I imagine this trend will continue as all the reputable and popular sites get taken or shut down. As that occurs we'll be forced to move to more sketchy places. As far as I know, a decent option is gamebanana, although I don't particularly like the site what with all of its adverts.

Talk about an end of an era, but at the same time a lot of rom/iso hacking sites are more dedicated to one particular game/series so it is also not surprising either.

Either way though it is great they are archiving things, because there were some pretty great hacks on there.

I read it was already archived, and the files are only about 11 GB.

Last year, someone made romhacks.org, but I haven't tried it out yet.
