Homebrew [NDS] Forwarder CIAs for your HOME Menu

i have everything required installed like 8 times, restarted a lot, and still get this

im on fedora 36 pls fix it ive been on this for 12+ hours and I wanna throw my mouse through a wall.
started as the com.whatever error, this what happened when i tried to fix it

try simplifying it with java -jar Forwarder3ds.jar

i did, a lot. heres what happens

nope not the issue. im just gonna use a different forwarder

the only thing I can think of is a mess up in environmental variables. that's how you have commands, that you don't normally have, in cmd prompt, linux, etc.

I don't know if this was already said in the thread but I have a problem with the ds games on the main menu. whenever I click on a ds game, for example goosebumps horrorland, it says: not found: sd:/nds games/the game name.nds ; please recreate the forwarder with the correct rom path. the thing is, when I open the game with twilight menu, it works completely fine. any solutions? thx <3

You need to recreate the forwarder with the correct ROM path, as already stated. What are you using to create the forwarder?

Old Java programs will have problems with the later versions, plus nobody is ever going to use Java.

Hello, something is giving me headaches.

I tried to make a forwarder for Pokemon Blaze Black 2 and Volt White 2 using the 3dsx version of NDS Forwarder (using both these custom banners https://skins.ds-homebrew.com/icon/pokmon-blaze-black-2 and https://skins.ds-homebrew.com/icon/pokmon-volt-white-2 otherwise it give me a 0xffffffff error) I can install 1 with no problems, but when I install the 2nd one, it's overwriting the 1st one, despite having Random TID on ON.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before but I'm a bit confused on an instruction in the FAQ. Regarding only getting .nds files not .cia:

A3 (Linux and MacOS users): make_cia does not have the required rights. Execute chmod +x make_cia in the terminal on the .jar file's directory, so that make_cia gets the needed rights to be executed.

As a Mac user I'm at a bit of a loss as to what this means. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Right click on the folder that make_cia is in in Finder and choose "Open new Terminal window in folder", then copy paste chmod +x make_cia and press enter

That gives make_cia excecutable permission. Alternatively I attached a zipped one with correct permissions, you could just exctract that and replace the one you have if you don't want to mess with Terminal.

So the forwarder i made using this is always like a 202 kb file even tho the rom is 24 mb and when i try to install it using fbi its just stuck on the download screen without the Loading bar and i have to shutdown my 2ds

Did you use remote install? If you did, try copying the CIA to the SD card, and then install it from there instead.

No i did it the normal way copying the cia to my cia folder on my ds and then fbi sd install cia and then it just gets stuck on a loading screen without the progress bar… oh and the games icon is missing like the banner if the game that normally is portrayed when you install a game

Try using the NDSForwarder homebrew application instead of Forwarder3-DS.

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but is this for downloading DS games off the internet and playing them on your 3DS, or just putting the DS game cards you already have bought, in the home screen?

Doesn't matter how you get the .nds files (though cart dumps are recommended). The tool allows for creating forwarders for .nds files already on the SD card.

so I tried to make a shortcut for Pokemon Black, White, Black2, and White2 No Impossible Evo (using Randomizer) , then something this showed up in Forwarder
shortcut in home showed no icon and no title, but the game run just fine
is there a way to fix this? have followed the FAQs but i keep getting this
oddly enough i didn't get this problem when making shortcuts for Gen 4 games (also no impossible evo using randomizer)
