Thoughts about invisibility

If science got to the point where they can make people invisible - not just with some fancy clothes, but their actual body, what would it look like and behave?

The most interesting and weird thing would be what happens when stuff got inside the body, like food. Would the food remain visible through the body and could we see the whole process of it getting digested and coming out the other side, or would it vanish as soon as it entered the mouth?
I think the first explanation would be more logical, but what would it look like if the second one was true? If we, say, inserted a finger halfway inside the mouth, and the part inside vanished, and we looked at it from the other side, would it look like it's been cut off? Would it be transparent in some way?
If a pregnant woman was made transparent, would the baby become transparent, too? Or would we see it develop? If it depended on the baby being present when the woman was made transparent, would the baby be visible inside the body if the woman was made transparent, then impregnated?

First of all, let's clarify that there's a difference between invisibility and being see-through. Science can't and will never be able to turn something truly invisible, just make it see through. If something were to actually become invisible it would require for the matter making it up to disappear completely, which is physically impossible. However, if we are talking about see-through, it's already possible to make completely see-through animal that look as if they have a body made entirely of clean water, but that's the limit. Since it all involves the way light refracts from the body, it's possible to make the skin transparent, the muscles, the organs, etc., basically target something specific, but you can't make the food the animal/human eats invisible for example since it's not living tissue. As for pregnant women, it depends on whether you target the womb and on whether she was already pregnant or not. Also, just for reference, if you want actual invisibility, while impossible on living things, it's possible on objects, thus it's already possible to make invisible clothes that make the light slide across their surface and be refracted from the exact opposite side, as if it had gone through it. This is not that perfected a technology there, but it's still close to perfect.
