Switch Bans

I made this a "Blog" post rather than posting it in the Switch section because it's more of a personal thought/opinion than anything else. The Switch doesn't really have much going for it as far as online gaming IMO...Sure, you got Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8. Doom and Fortnite also have online multiplayer, however, they are also on other consoles. I honestly don't play games online often and soon, Nintendo will start charging to do so. So, why should I worry/care if I get banned? Yes, I do have digital games that I bought, but they aren't games I couldn't buy physically if I decide to get another Switch...however, what's my motivation to get another Switch? Pay $300 to buy a system that isn't banned from online multiplayer for games that i'll play once every couple months? Also, you have people that are keeping their consoles on low firmware for various reasons, but personally I don't understand that either. Sure, you have the possibility of getting a "Coldboot" solution, but if you get TX OS Pro, you have something VERY close to that. If you use an Android phone as your daily phone, then you pretty much have the same thing as the TX OS dongle. However, how often do you fully power off your Switch? It's not something you do every time you want to play another game or even every day unless you are constantly loading more XCI or NSP files. For the first few days, I was powering off my Switch every few hours to try out new games...but now I have a nice selection of games on my system that I don't really have reason to power off my system for DAYS. Where am I going with this? I don't care if I do get a ban. I'm on the latest firmware, I can play any Switch game I want (except L.A. Noire unless I buy the cartridge and play in OFW, but i'm sure that will be fixed). Even if you do get banned, you can still download game updates. Even if they start blocking you from doing that, there is NSP files for updates online or using CDNSP. So, what I'm trying to say is, if you are playing around with TX OS or LayeredFS or other homebrew, you should just accept the fact that you are risking a ban. "Clearing logs" is like a condom, it offers a layer of protection but it's not 100% protection. "Airplane mode" keeps you from using Amiibo. Deleting your internet connection and doing everything from NSP files is just a pain (more powering off). When PS3 started getting CFWs and people were using programs to "clear logs", there were numerous reports of people getting banned. I never did any of that and it took me until 2016 to get banned. I was using homebrew/CFW on PS3 going all the way back to 3.15 firmware, using a dongle, pressing eject and then power to boot up. Took me 5 years to get banned and yes, I admit it was my own fault. I had a modded EBOOT for Call of Duty and when I booted my console, it automatically signed me into PSN. I forgot about that when I fired up Call of Duty and played the game (since I forgot I was on PSN, I obviously wasn't playing multiplayer). Next day, I turn on the PS3 and it says i'm banned. So again, if you mess with homebrew/layeredFS/CFW, just accept that you're going to get a ban. Don't worry about clearing logs, turn on your wifi so you can update games, update to latest firmware and enjoy all the Switch games you can. However, don't just pirate everything. Pay for games you truely enjoy. I paid $99 for Octopath Traveler Wayfarer's Edition even though I found the XCI file online 2 days early. I paid for Captain Toad Treasure Tracker because it was cheap. I also plan to pay for the Sonic Mania Plus upgrade for my existing Sonic Mania even though the XCI is already online. These are games I enjoy. However, I do download games to check them out to see if i'll enjoy them. I am on the fence about buying Mario Tennis Aces. I played a good bit of it when it first came out, however, I haven't played it at all since I started on Octopath Traveler.
