Spacers and Dieting

So, all bad news this time. If you read my last blog, my date to homecoming has an overprotective parent, so that's bad news. To add to the pain, I got my spacers for braces today, and, they hurt. Bad. And finally, I started my diet, which wouldn't be so hard except for the rules, as follows:

No bread. Damn.
No sugar. I cheated and had a gram today. Sorry :(
500 Calories. That's hard.

Let's have a run down of my food today. It started out with a mint from Sonic, which is surprisingly fatty. I also had a single jelly bean from a friend haha. My lunch was 200 calories, but healthy. I had soup, 160 calories. Overall, dinner has 130 calories left in the day. Wish me luck!

Never eat less than 1200 calories a day. You can damage your health. And the faster you lose weight the more likely you are to gain it back.

Spacers hurt like crap. And dieting sounds hard. I'm magically skinny, at least for this part of my life. Good luck man.

I had spacers to when I got my braces this june.... Took all my will power not to pull them out cause they are SO GOD DAMN IRRITATING. Meh you'll get used to it by the time the pull them out and give you molar bands. Also Snailface is right. Dont diet like that. Its REALLY dangerous. Youre better off eating 3 whole meals a day (that are extremely nutritious) than not eating at all. Also doing what your doing will slow down your metabolism which will make you lose weight even slower.

Anyone who advises 500Kcals a day is clearly deranged. If a medical professional told you that they need to be struck off.

I thought this was rant
about how I line break
when I saw the word
spacers =D

But seriously 500 calories
is way under what
you need!

Is that actually so?

I never had spacers, but it seems.. somewhat painful.

i think it's safer to just do speed[/quote]

QFT

Although given the quantity of food you'd probably be eating it'd probably be more expensive.

Eat tons of meat and vegetables. Eat until you're full; no more, no less. Use good fats such as coconut oil, butter or lard to help you feel satiated with your meals. Avoid grains, sugar and vegetable oils.

Try this for a month and I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with how you feel and look. Don't be afraid of fat!

I don't recommend being fat either.

But it generally is healthier to be a bit overweight
compared to severely underweight (which is where
your heading).

HCG Diet. I understand the risks, and have this all planned out. Promise. I really do hate spacers...Owwww!!!
Promise though, I need a diet. I am a naturally tall, well built kid; But 240 pounds is too big. I guess that the healthy size for me is actually around 200. Like I said, big kid here.

First off, diets don't work. Just eat better and exercise. I started eating better and got more active a little over a month ago, and I've already lost about 10 pounds. Not super fast or anything, but I'm not trying all that hard either. I just sort of do what I do, and it all works out.

Do not just eat 500 calories a day. That is far too little. You will not be getting the energy you need. Don't avoid sugar completely either. You do need some in your system for the carbs, which is the body's primary source of energy. Ditching that is basically asking to be in a state of wishing you were dead every single day.

"Eating better" is a diet.

Your point?

"Diets, don't work, you should diet" is contradictory.

That is a very close minded view. You don't have to go on a diet to eat say, more fruits and less chips. More vegetables and less sweets, etc. A diet is restricting yourself, creating limits that shouldn't be there. Balancing your portions better is not dieting.

It's not dieting, but it's a diet. It doesn't have to be calorie restrictive to be a diet. Sumo wrestlers are on a diet. What you described is a balanced diet. Whatever changes your usual dietary (hah) habits is a diet. Thinking that a diet must mean severe restrictions and limitations is a very close minded view too. "Eating better" is still adjusting your eating habits and therefore a diet, and saying that "diets" in general don't work isn't true.

But that's just me being pedantic. What I meant to say is that while crash diets, starvation diets, fad diets don't work, but there are those that do.
