Never got around to writing this so I'll try doing it now. Just doing this from memory so sorry for any discrepancies.
Beyond looks like a good adventure game but those aren't always my thing. I never played Heavy Rain so I don't know what to expect. Grapihcs are omigod awesome.
Passbar was pretty good looking, I don't care if it's a "SSB clone". It looks fun and that's what counts, people seem to forget that in the wake of even more heated console wars. The demo itself though was really lame though. We already saw gameplay with those four characters and get the idea what the game is about, all this did was show that the Vita can join in. I mean they introduce Nate Drake and Big Daddy but don't even demo them? C'mon man!
Wonderbook, probably the show stopper. Not that it was stunning, it just kinda made the show stop. Don't get me wrong, I think the idea is actually really cool. I'm sure a lot of viewers had it fall flat on them but for someone whose younger, it's amazing. One of the cooler uses of augmented reality. And for older guys and gals, imagine something like a Dungeons and Dragons rulebook with all this crazy shit happening. But it took up way too much of the show, it seemed worth an announcement and video outside E3 but not a big showpiece.
Asscreed Liberation, looks good, but they barely showed anything. Just the standard running and killing of the series.
Asscreed 3, I've seen like three trailers for it this E3, I really don't want another one. It was cool though, seeing the ship combat, but hardly noteworthy.
Last of Us demo was excellent. I don't see how it's Uncharted at all. There's no big set piece moments, no crazy climbing, it's completely different. Maybe it runs on the same engine, but the two games are two different breed. Just the attention to detail in the demo amazed me. When he ran against a wall, the main character put his hands on it and pushed along it, like we would. Or how he doesn't take cover like every generic TPS game, he just kinda crouches behind it. It's the little things I noticed that made it. Also, it was confirmed that the demo wasn't scripted, which makes it even more mindblowing.
Not sure if I forgot anything else.
Overall though, it was a disappointing conference. So much stuff was missing. Am I the only one who remembers Warrior's Lair? It used to be Ruin. I love solid dungeon crawlers and it looked more than solid. Now it's just... gone. Sony spent so much time demoing stuff we already knew about or seen instead of hitting us with big reveals that it felt like it was half a show. Not that the demos were bad, they were just expected.
E3 as a whole this year has been really lame. I'm hoping E3 next year, with next gen consoles from Sony and MIcrosoft, plus more games and stuff, will be the biggest one in years.
