Need to break ipod touch homebutton

Here is my story. I HORRIBLY cracked my ipod touch 4g. I really need a new one. So i still have the limited 1 year defult warrenty with it. Could i break my ipods home button and tell them the button is defective would they give me a new one? And if the answer is yes to the new one how can i break my home button?

Is it just me who is really curious as to what Apple does? If they tell him to pay for the repair, or fix it free?

Also, I wonder if he will even come back to the thread

Lol. Get urself a new screen on ebay. Ask ur mom seeing a ur not old enough. Then go to youtube and watch how to safely open your iPhone. Follow a tutorial on how to replace the screen. Its not even hard and you save tons of money by buying it off cheap at ebay and replacing it urself. Fuck the rest :P They are too noob to replace it :tpi:

But yeah im serious. Replace the screen urself if you are so into getting it repaired. As Apple could just say that you broke the home button on the fall and send it right back at you and then ur fucked becasue u basically destroyed your own home button.

I think there's a chance of both happening.
If he's nice he's got a chance of getitng it repaired for free. Especially if he just asks how much to repair it first off, not for a warranty replacement.
If he acts how he's done in this thread. A self entitled little brat who thinks he deserves this for free the "Geniuses" will be a lot less inclined to help him and the chances of him being turned away and asked to pay increase.

But as I said earlier, my co-worker was told all first accidental damage repairs/replaces under warranty are free. So maybe its just Apple policy in which case he'll get it regardless of how rude he is.
he said he has warranty so cant he just get his screen replaced?
That's not what warranty replaces. Warranty is more for like the inside of the hardware itself. And seeing as how he broke the screen and trying to break the home button.. warranty doesn't cover it.

I find this whole thread to be odd. I had an iPod touch that went through the washing machine twice, one through a dryer, dropped from the top of my friends barn (along with his cellphone), and the damn thing just took it all and kept working.
I'm not preaching. It's fraud, it's illegal. I'm not saying to not do it, but if they were to find out he would get into a lot of trouble. If he were to think about it logically, then maybe thought of going to the apple store.
The question is who cares. Stop bothering him with your useless posts that won't change his mind in any way.

I suggest you call Apple and tell them your screen doesn't work good and your having some problems when you use the screen. Tell them you can't send it to your local Apple store and you have to send it to them. When you send them the iPod they will just replace it.

I think it still works, but he is going for cosmetics.

How is it useless? I'm telling him what I think is a bad idea (Like others have.). I honestly don't care what he does (Or what people think.), he shouldn't go for that first in the first place. He should have maybe looked how on how to fix a broken screen, or, like many others have said, go to the apple store.

Getting good things cost money. I fixed my own xbox's dvd drive using money I worked for. He can also go the apple store and most likely get it fixed if he acts nice and explain his situation.

Hey guys thanks for the FLAME!!!

I went to the apple store. I didn't break my homebutton. At the end i did what was right and now it cost me around 100 bucks to get it repaired.

By the way i take extremely good care for my ipod. It just hit the right spot and cracked. There are also cracks on the screen.

If you take extremely good care of your iPod. It wouldn't have dropped in the first place. :\
But yet again, accidents do happen.

But glad you got it fixed

First, Tag, quit it with the attitude. It's uncalled for and rude, no one's flamed you from what I read (geez, I sound like your dad...)

Second, how exactly did you break it when you take such good care of it?

...Well I wouldn't say that you took "extremely" good care of it, but I advise you buy a protective cover.
