Well it's a fairly common type of cancer especially in the usa as the diet mostly consists of processed foods and sugar unlike Asians. So cut down on sugar and weight and I guess if the colon cancer is usually followed by colostomy bags or an operation.
Tc hope u guys come out of it strong.

My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer two years ago, but as I understand it, colon cancer is relatively easy one to catch and isolate. They were able to quickly perform surgery to remove the cancerous part of his colon and he’s doing fine now.

It’s still scary though. I understand that feeling of not wanting to worry irl friends when you don’t have the full scope of the situation yet, so I’m glad you felt you could get it off your chest here. Here’s to hoping everything works out for you and your dad.

My aunt had colon cancer about two years ago. She went through chemo which was really nasty. Your dad is going to suffer through that. But as long as it hasn’t metastasized he’s probably got a good chance to be cured.

a real concern, though, is to make sure he doesn’t get coronavirus while his immune system is compromised by the chemo. That will make a bad situation worse, especially if he’s not that young. That’s something you and your family need to take very seriously.

my dad was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer just a few months ago. He’s in his 70s, and it’s basically a death sentence. The chemo and radiation were as successful as they can be, but the kind of cancer he has is incurable.

Cancer is pretty awful. If you want to read a good book about it, I can highly recommend Emperor of All Maladies by Sidharta Mukherjee.

I also read something about cancer some years ago, I read that literally any person with an Alkaline body "environment" can't develope ANY dissease at all.
It's almost impossible to get cancer if you have an Alkaline PH.

So... Not sure if this information is correct, but you could search for food that could reverse back the acidity of your dad's body (and your's too!) in order to minimize the impact of the dissease.
Again: So sorry to hear that. Hope everything is fine. Wish you good luck to you and your relatives.

I hope your father gets better soon.

I am very happy to read this because it shows that you are a good kid.

Not every kid/sister/brother cares about there parents.

I stopped my education to support my sick mother for a long time. I GRADUATED FROM UNIVERSITY AT 30 years old.

My brother and her sisters didn’t not care as much as me.

I felt every thing was dump at me.

Im sorry for ya Velg my grandfather who raised me recently passed away on May 4th with lung cancer phase 4 "Heavy Smoker", but what really caused his death was the tumor within his abdomen formed by cancer cells had burst. The best thing I can tell you is spend alot of time with him. Doctors always say a cancer patient has 6months but those months fly by fast I'll pray for you brother stay strong and keep showering him with much love.

I feel for you. I lost my other when I was just 16, she was 42. I took a year off high school to attend to her health, giving her shots, she died within the year. I was basically orphaned that year as my father based me to leave just before she died, so they may have a night together and the house to themselves. I was the youngest of 3, they always had kids int the house; she died that night.

Since my father and I never spoke before that, he worked 2 hours away, and I was working two years before her death, it was no loss and I moved in with my sister, we never spoke again.

My point being, take the time to really get to know him, you will look back on these days often and with great affection. Learn to remember them for the things you did and not those you did not get to do, that could haunt anyone.

PS every one of my family died from cancer, I grew up on a property (16 years) that was loaded with Radon, something too many people overlook the dangers of today. Every family on the mountain died of Radon exposure.
