Lane Bryant is a Bitch

So, I was away for a three day bus tour holiday with my parents. The last day was spent shopping and being obnoxious tourists with too much cash. We went to Birch Run, a huge factory outlet store with a ton of stores and decent food stores.

I'm Canadian, and that store/outlet mall knows that tourists are a good source of the old moolah. Also, I have never been to a Lane Bryant - the only thing I know about it is through MadTV skits - the one that featured the "gay Acrombie and Fitch guys" versus "the Charlie's Angels Fat Version from Lane Bryant".

I'm size 14/16 - pretty small in terms of Lane Bryant. I went in because I know I'm a fat ass, and it's better to be in a store that specializes in fatassery than suffer through small sizes or do the digging through stacks of "not my size". As soon as I go in, the customers look at me like I'm a circus side-show freak. It's stupid, and the employees do not want to help someone who is smaller. The older lady at the cashier paying is talking with her husband and darting looks at me like I'm some sort of exotic animal. I have pretty buff arms, so I guess I do carry my weight in my middle. (This is why I do drag - it's easier to pull off the baby faced guy look than the androgous look.)

Also, yes - I was at the "low end" of the sizing range. It became a difficulty to find not glittery clothing in my size. And what is with glitter and Lane Bryant? I'm big and proud of it, but I do not want to look like I lost a battle to a Christmas Tree and it's tinsel!

Anyhow - why the heck is it "okay" for the Lane Bryant customers to look down on someone who isn't as big as the usual customer?

Heh, that's funny that they'd look down on people not as big as them.
Not sure why it'd be ok, but I guess you could take it as a compliment?
And glitter? Nobody should wear glittery clothes.

Amen! I hate glittery things for clothing. Especially on bigger women.

It's so tacky!
On smaller women it makes them look like bitches, in my opinion.

Lane Bryant has lost my wife's patronage completely. My wife and I , we are big people.

The fitting rooms are big enough to where me and my wife could fit comfortably. I usually go in the dressing room to help my wife get into some clothes, tell her how they look, etc... Lane Bryant is the only store where they will not let men in the dressing rooms with a Significant Other.

Every other store I have been to, they have been cool with it but not there.

Also, don't buy the jeans. The buttons are made out of tin foil, I swear to god.
