Denuvo DRM....

You know that one shitty DRM service which launches on top of your Steam game and eats even more resources than for example your game? Well guess what, it's fucking everywhere and it's annoying.

Not only it has this annoying online DRM stuff which only asks for it to be pirated just for the sake of removing this damn "feature" by this piece of shit DRM but also it claims to make your game uncrackable and less resource heavy.

Recently dev used denuvo but upon huge community press he removed it. Why? Players noticed higher resource usage with that DRM service. Game itself uses for ex. 40% CPU and 30% of your RAM and with Denuvo it's literally multiplied. Atleast according to them. Game without Denuvo ran perfectly. No framedrops, no stuttering, nothing.
[Also it got cracked in one week after releasing]

Not only it makes people lose their living shit and their time spend on researching what is the cause of game running like a PS4 port of No Man's Sky, but they also regret spending money on it. You can't ruin your game more by putting THIS DAMN DRM. Jesus, develop something better instead which isn't a pain in the ass to deal with.

Yes, i'm clearly triggered by this. Most devs got rid of it but someone {points at Sega} still thinks it's good to shove it into their new titles. Not only this disallows players to play offline incase if they have a laptop and they brought to their cousin for example so they can Co-op, well guess what, you can't.

Even people who bought games legitimely used cracks to disable this shitty protection. I'm done rambling, See ya in next blog post.
Oh and also: I have nothing against No Man's Sky. You guys should check this game again because it recently got a big update which introduced story mode and is a very enjoyable game! Still not worth 60 euros but hey, Hello Games is still actively updating and fixing stuff!

EDIT: https://whyisdenuvobad.github.io/ Here's why you shouldn't support it

You know I'm normally against piracy but when a company does this shit to their loyal fans, yeah screw them wait for a crack and play that.

Denuvo is pretty much protection by making the game run within a virtual machine which would explain why there's a lot of overhead data.

Still, it's the worst DRM on the world. Not only it makes people think that their high-end PCs are trash when there's Denuvo but it also locks out offline users which mostly sit on data caps.

I thought that was just called Steam, certainly one of the big reasons I don't bother with it.

Steam doesn't eat too much resources though.

Denuvo was a mistake and I hope it dies off ASAP. Fuck DRM.

Sadly, GOG isn't big enough to fully replace Steam, but it works wonder for old games and indie titles. (aka the good stuff, most of the time)

I hate DRMs as much as the next guy, but all of the things you are claiming about worse performance with Denuvo are purely anecdotal at best, and imaginative lies at worst. Denuvo is literally the only DRM I've ever seen which is virtually invisible to a paying user - which, I'm guessing, is what a lot of the people who complain about it are not. Whatever slowdown you're getting due to Denuvo obfuscating some process the game uses a handful of times is orders of magnitude smaller than what Steam, with all its bells and whistles, requires for running in the background.

Now, if someone said he's against DRMs because they hinder the preservation of current videogames in the years to come I'd absolutely agree, in fact I'd say we should reward companies who decide to go DRM free (like buying on GoG when given the choice), however in my experience that's almost never the case: people like free shit, and they'll hide behind free software causes they don't believe in just to demand it.

Rant over, cheers. [Edit: syntax]

Some consumers have alleged that Denuvo Anti-Tamper shortens the lifetime of solid-state drives (SSDs) by writing an excessive amount of data to the drive. Denuvo Software Solutions claims that "Denuvo Anti-Tamper does not constantly read or write any data to storage media,"calling it a "wrong rumor", since it doesn't perform read or write operations.

Games with Denuvo Anti-Tamper state in EULA that "certain files of the anti-tamper technology may remain even after the product is uninstalled from your computer.

Sounds successful against piracy.... maybe, or very bad for consumers. Sonic mania has this? Well maybe I'll pass on the pc port, have the switch already, all i was gonna do was unlock sound test and play music on it, but not worth spending extra $20 on (maybe a sale) Is this why the pc game was delayed?
