Damn Phones

Okay for those of you who don't know I dropped my phone & iPod Nano 4G into a pool. They dried out and only the phone & headphones survived with minor injuries. The phone's battery dies in two days on standby & the END/PWR key does not function. Strangely enough, if I need to power up the phone the END/PWR key works but when in the actual interface, it does not respond.

We're going to call up Verizon Wireless (my carrier) to see what new phone I can get. I have insurance on my phone so we only have to pay a $50 for an exact replacement. This is my phone: SCH-U450 (Samsung Intensity). I dissike it very much... My parents are not ones to pay money for a phone or extra for a plan that a phone requires, ever. My dad works for Verizon Telecom (not Verizon Wireless) and so he gets a limited 20% discount on our phone needs/services.

Although if I get a choice to change my phone to one of the same value I'd have to go with the Pantech Jest which is sadly out of stock online during the writing of this blog entry.

If my parents were high and wanted to get me a decent/not insanely expensive smartphone like I'd like, I'd choose the LG Ally, Verizon's cheapest Android phone.

In case you haven't noticed I like phones with a QWERTY keyboard, I hate txting use a dial pad or a touchscreen.

usually insurance never covers water damage
theres a special sticker in the phone somewhere near the battery to tell them if its been in water

there are some of the higher up insurance plans that do cover water damage though, so you should just call them and find out

One thread on Verizon's forum stated that it covered water damage but they could be wrong, we'll find out soon enough.

I also forgot to mention how my phone is acting up now. Every 5 minutes it will light up as if its about to get a text but nothing happens; it freezes for about 2 minutes then when you gain control of it and need to unlock the keypad, it powers off immediately. Very annoying.

I also still need a new iPod, I think of it this way: If i get a smartphone with a 3.5mm headset jack, that would just double as my iPod. The LG Ally also comes with a free Class 4 4GB MicroSDHC

EDIT: On second thought, I'd like an iPod because I have Sony MDR-EX38iP headphones which have a built in Mic and volume control that can only be taken advantage of on iDevices.

I would just like to say that Verizon would require me to pay full retail price if I wanted upgrade my phone so that was not an option. New Samsung intensity for me.
