Well as none of you know, I've been on a dig these last two weeks, and it was exhausting but great. We've found a lot of items (Two horse burials, a lot of animal bones (including a cow skull), some pottery, a couple of leather shoes ( and some of the equipment used to make them) and quite a few wells, some of which still had the wooden boards in it), and a number of traces of houses and other wooden poles (for fences etc.).
It is most likely a trading settlement dating back to the sixth to eight century A.D., because the Roman bricks were most likely recycled by the settlers. Though the end date will probably end up being somewhere in the ninth or tenth century (some of the pottery found is from a later date).

I'll be visiting the dig again in the coming weeks (as a visitor this time though), so there'll be more pics.
