Pop Art + Nintendo

My Theory and History of Visual Design final project asks us to take an Artist/Movement/Style and create our own work using principles of the chosen preference.

Pop Art has always stuck out, in a sense, and intrigued me. I decided to do a little more poking around with Lichtenstein and Warhol, getting a feel for the time period and it's impact. It's truly mind-blowing stuff. I've also loved reading comic books since I was a kid, and it may sound silly, but Lichtenstein's comic-esqe style really drew me in due to that reason. His style feels so nostalgic and gritty. Oh, and, Warhol is pretty sweet too. ;)

I decided to take a little bit of Lichy, a little bit of Warhol, a little bit of ME, and a little bit of Nintendo and mix 'em up. The result is below...

I really like that piece dude, I think your class will like it (unless they're Sony fanboys, in which case, you might want to mail your work in :ph34r:)

Well, the main Warhol derivation lies within the layout of the 4 boxes in conjunction with the contrast of the 4 different background colors of these boxes, that's about it. So, you can sleep easy. ;)

Also, the presentation went great! I nailed it! It was fun seeing the audiences reaction... ^_^

It's really great when I can get feedback and conversations started up here from you guys when I post my work. I love pitching to a larger audience, not just to my classes and friends IRL. Thanks guys! ^_^

You can expect more work sooner than later! ;)

    Someone tried to pull a gun on me once, they reached into the couch thinking I wouldn't notice, quick kick to the arm snapping it between the wrist and elbow broke like a swing lol I reached into the couch to see what was in there, cool a free .380 lol had to hit him with it a few times to remind him not to do it again lol
