So you have an option, well either option pretty much gonna get you fuc*ed if you do let charter tell them they know your age,where you live everything,then sue for viewing adult content that you're not legally allowed to view! And if you don't they're pretty much gonna get pissed and sue.

Oh that's why you got caught. Bit Torrent leaves your IP out there for the whole world to see. I hope no one else uses it after seeing this. There's tons of slap suites going on with Bit Torrent right now. It'll cost you a few thousand dollars but they'll settle with out out of court.

Also, those legal papers look legal,I don't see any loophole in them.

honestly bro that looks like a legit case, your not the only one being sued in it theres i think 2168 other people too, the term "DOE" is a name for a defendant without a name or multiple defendants. It seems to be pretty legal looking and subpoena if you didnt know is a court summon

Update: Ok so turns out we couldn't do anything.
Charter gave them our info.
Today I recieved a letter from Hustlers's lawyer.
What had been downloaded was a movie called "This ain't Avatar XXX"
Yeah, avatar p0rn.
Now my wireless router is unsecured so I have no clue who did it.
Anyways we're still the ones who have to pay for it apparently.
I'm being given a choice either a 2000$ out of court settlement.
OR we take it to court, and they search my hard drive.
Now I'm fucked wither way.
I either pay 2000
or have them find my warez and I get into deeper shit.
Now the only way out that i can see is handing them over a difffrent computer, namely my Mom's.
She has no warez, wouldnt do anything illegal on it and such.
Now they know my Houses Ip address the individual device Ip address that downloaded the file.
The mac address of my router and some other address that I cant identify.
Could it be possible that I give them another computer?
Individual IP's change frequently at my house.
i sometimes get notices that say "Ip address conflict with another device on the network"
So I renew my computers ip and it changes to something else.
So what are my options?

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I doubt it'd even get that far. If it's a desktop you could always just take out whatever hard drive you have the warez sitting on (assuming it isn't the same drive you have windows installed to)


edit: and even if you gave it to them and they saw the warez, it isn't related to the case at hand so there isn't really much they can do about it.

Well, you could wipe your primary harddrive clean.
I doubt that they can charge on 'tampering evidence', anyways because they haven't got a court order for the harddrive.
Likely wrong given my limited knowledge of American law.

Im pretty tempted to wipe it.
I've been meaning to delete windows and just use Linux as my primary OS.
But would formatting actually erase it all?

i wouldn't pay them anything. i would dump all warez. you may need to give up your pc for a while. no evidence no case.
