So this happened like a few months ago but I just got into writing this now so...
I had this friend that used to be really nice and fun to hang out with and we've been friends for a couple of years. One day, all of a sudden, he just started to avoid me. When I went near him he would just leave. I was able to catch up to him to ask him about it. He said that he was avoiding me because I was gay. In the first place, I am not gay, but I am slightly feminine. Second, I hate homophobic people. I have a bunch of gay friends and I know he has a couple of gay friends as well. I had a hunch that he was avoiding me because he did not want to be acknowledged as my best friend.
Over the past few months, we just stopped talking to each other. We could be in the same group together, but not talk to each other at all. He stopped sitting at our usual table at the cafeteria, and most of our common friends also became distant from him (though not as much as me). Things weren't very different though, once I got over it.
Last week, I celebrated my birthday. It was on a school day. One of my friends (let's call him A) needed to borrow something from my "former" friend. When A came back , he said that my "former" friend asked him to say Happy Birthday to me. I have no idea if it was true, but A rarely lies. He seemed truthful.
