Moved into my dorm

I moved into my dorm today. Classes start for me on Monday and things are ok so far. I already knew my roommate from a few months ago so it makes it all the more easier. The room looks pretty good so far.

I've seen a lot of people looking like they brought in their whole room to the dorm, a friend (who I met a few months ago) brought I don't know HOW many speakers. He claims he needs his music...but seriously, he has a LOT of speakers, and many shoes.

I've seen people bringing in 30"+ sized TV....makes my 19" look really puny. :( Seen a kid bring in a queen sized mattress, even though they said themselves we couldn't bring our own mattresses but oh well.

I've met a few people here, some really cool people. I think my freshman year is going to be great, a lot to look forward to!

I'll probably post pics later. We'll see.

Nice! I'd probably have to repack my air mattress - I know the mattresses at my school feel like you are sleeping on a flat rock.

You brought a television? My essentials are:

- computer (& fifty thousand cables - ethernet is important)
- one pot, one pan, one lid that fits both, pair of chopsticks, 2 knives (butter and cutting), cutting board, one bowl, one plate
- toaster oven (ooooo!)
- chest freezer (much cheaper than getting takeout, but a bitch to move back in and out - I really should put some coffee in it to deodorize)
- craft supplies
- knapsack

We don't have them, here :/[/quote]
Why not? You guys are missing out! Living on campus is a fun experience.

I'm a freshman :P. Speaking of super fast internet, I was able to download my Mass Effect in 30 minutes and its a 10GB game. Thank you 6.3MB/s!

I got some of that stuff except for the kitchen items. We don't have a kitchen in our dorms since we are freshman. Though our dorm does have a community kitchen....probably not going to use it.

Yes the mattreses are terrible here....way to flat. It's uncomfortable. And I don't watch TV...the only reason I have the TV is so I can play my PS3 and Wii. Plus it doubles as a PC monitor.

Move in next Friday to start my Junior year, so pumped for it. I remember my freshman year, though, and it's pretty similar to what you've described. People and their massive TVs/sound systems was strange, but... those are the people to butter up to. Not be close friends, but keep 'em at arm's reach.

Also: get a mattress pad. It makes the bed SO much more comfortable and it should be relatively cheap.
