Today was the worst day of my life...

Today was just a horrible day. I got scammed twice today. First time, some guy tried to trick me into sending him my phone for $300. I didn't think anything at first till today after I sent it in at the post office. The paypal message was really suspicious so I asked some people on the channel. I noticed that the email had a ' at the end, which was different from the regular one. I realized I was scammed so I drove all the way down to the post office. Luckily I managed to get it in time, so now I got my phone back.

But then, I got a call asking they want to buy my PSP for $100. So I was thinking maybe it would be the real deal. Wrong, I go there and I make the exchange. I go to the bank to deposit the $100. The bank wouldn't take it, so I begin to think it was fake. At the time, one of my best friends calls me and I tell him the situation and I head home. We use a counterfeit pen on it, confirmed it was fake. We called the police and we filed a report, they said to call the guy up cause they think maybe he didn't know it was a fake. So my friend calls him up, and he tells him it was fake. The guy starts yelling, trying to say it wasn't counterfeit, calling him some terms, etc. So that pretty much confirms he knew....we were going to the police today to go get this guy but unfortunately, it started raining and hailing really bad. So I'll have to do it tomorrow.

I feel really stupid and kind of upset right now. Just wanted money for this stuff so I can build my computer or buy a new DS but it looks like that won't be happening...

D: I'm sorry. I have those days when I'm tricked into the stupidest things, doesn't feel good. On top of that money is bit hard to come by here in the States so that just sucks even more. I hope you find a reputable buyer for your things. What kind of phone do you have, just curious.

Just relax...if it's counterfeit, you have a legal case. And you got your phone back - so no problem, right? Just don't be so eager to get rid of what you have to get new stuff...

If you need money, get a job. If it doesn't pay you enough to get you what you want...well, life doesn't really care what we want. You can either get a second job or ask your family for help - you're only 18.

Try eBay and only let people pay with Paypal through eBay itself is my advice.

Also, relax a bit like the others said. If this truly is the worst day of your life, you've led an awesome life so far.

Sounds like one of the luckiest days of your life. You saved yourself from one scam and as for losing the PSP, you're helping get another dirty scammer off the streets, and odds are if things go right you'll get compensation or your PSP back. Just sue the fuck out of him if he doesn't.

Trying to be optimistic :)

Still it still feels bad to be scammed and when you feel bad how can you be optimistic

You have to protect yourself against scammers...

I had one week where 2-3 people tried to get something for nothing from me. The bottom line is, expect to be scammed, and double check everything.

Thanks guys....some friends and I are going to the police tomorrow to do this....hopefully everything is resolved by tomorrow (probably not) and I get my PSP and possibly compensation...

I have a question guys: my PSP is hacked and I didn't update the firmware or format the memory card and it had games on there. Would I get into any sort of trouble if the police find out?

No. Besides you can always say he did it.

well yeah . it is illegal .
if i were you , i would take out the battery while you have the chance. or hopefully, the police is soft/nice enough to not turn the PSP on. why would they turn it on anyway, there isn't a reason for them to right?

and wow, must be a bad day for you. hopefully the next days will lighten up for you :D

EDIT: smart one sludge. that is a good idea if they ask .

OMG for one the police probably wouldnt know what a hacked psp is and two why would they give a rats shit about that?

Since when flashing your PSP's firmware is illegal ? I thought that after you buy it, you can do whatever you want with it...

Is it possible I could say that I lied to the guy and say that I bought the games off of PSN?

that idea seems risky ...
just hope for the best , and as a back-up , just blame it on the guy .
if that's also tricky , just say you bought the games.

just out of curiosity , what did you tell the guy when you sold it to him? like the details about the PSP.
