I need your opinoin on something. (Parent's opinion that is)

Right, so I'm a child, kid, teen, whatever.
Anyways, over the summer, I was thinking of making videos for youtube (Like I do now.)
However, I want to stop hiding with it, and just come out and tell them.
So, parents, I'm wondering if I approached you in these scenarios, how would you react, how would you react.

Scenario 1.
Me: Hey mom and dad. So, over the summer, in order to pass some time, instead of me playing video games all day, would it be okay if I made Youtube videos? I might narrate, but I can assure you it's safe.

Scenario 2.
Me: Hey mom and dad. Summer's coming up and I wanted to start on this whole Youtube thing. I was wondering if you would allow me to narrate some videos and upload them. I'm sure that it's safe.

Other.
Come up with your own way to tell it to them for me? Thanks. :D

You are already doing it, so what's the point?

This isn't the first topic you've started about this. It's not like you are coming out as being gay, this really isn't such a big deal.

They are unlikely to find out that you doing it. But I would expect they are going to be more bothered that you are doing it behind their back, than actually uploading them to youtube. Why? because it means they can't trust you.

Well, my dad actually got a glimpse of me uploading once.
Then I showed him that clip I edited.
But the thing is, I don't know how I'm going to explain the 100+ uploads that I have.

I'm a parent (just so ya know) of a 15 year old son (who could be just like you).

Nooooow when you consider they have actually charged and sentenced girls under the age as sex offenders all because they showed their boyfriend the play ground over a something like a cell phone, you need to be careful.

But hell, if ALL you are doing, is showing the world 'hey look, I'm another doofus kid dancing to the latest crazy song' or narrating why game X blows dead donkeys, the parents have nothing to fear or care about.

Just remember the basic rules. No real names, no real addresses, nor real email addresses, and if you are going to show the boy or girlfriend something 'personal', do it while they are in the room, not over the internet or other forms of communications devices. Remember, people can and DO intercept those signals all the time.

I actually had a friend whose parents thought that youtube was a porn site. They made me remove all the videos we made

You know, this is the kind of response that I was looking for.
My parents don't care about real names anymore (Because my dad picked up eBay and online shops and stuff).
I might explain it to them in a similar manner of how you explained it to me though.

I might just tell them, (After using Scenario 2) that it's just video sharing, informing other people, not showing my face, editing my voice, and it's going to be all safe.
Sound good?

If you think they are going to say no then just don't ask. Go do it. You know raywilliamjohnson? He's like 20 and he still hasn't told his parents about himself on YouTube. ;)
