San Francisco

Apparently, I'm going with the family for a week down there during early-mid summer break. Somewhat excited, since just going into the states is automatically better than being in Canada.

Is there anything to do, or look at? Or maybe even tempers I can meet?

everything.

fisherman's wharf, there's an aquarium, art museums, exploratorium, ripley's believe it or not, metreon, westfield shopping mall, golden gate park, golden gate bridge, I think there's a penny arcade but I'm not sure if it is still there, pier 39 but this place is crowded as hell so I don't go there. u could spend days there doing stuff it is fun. oh yeah there's also stripper bars, night clubs, etc.. fun stuff.

Huh, sounds great. Well, the last part isnt an option for me, since I'm only 17, but seems like I'll be occupied for a while then.

amptor: you talk about the place like you live there :lol

I'm going there for a week in July. I'll be staying in Berkley with my uncle who works there. Hope it's not hot around that time

Chinatown, Japantown, there are tons of museums around, and so much more. I live near SF and i've gone a handful of times. The weather is pretty much in the 60s all the time and it gets foggy, really foggy. Traffic is a major bitch there so sometimes its easier to walk places than to drive.

Aww, you missed Bay to Breakers 2010. Oh well, just try to do everything amptor said.

If I were to list everything, it'll probably just crash GBAtemp.

You're a strange individual if you've actually been to the US and think it's better lol.
No offense to Americans, but yeah. After being there a few times, I can safely say I never, ever want to go back.

I've been to America a few times too.
I prefer Canada >.>

Well, my biggest beef is the internet services. I'm using the 2nd best option available from Shaw, so iit's kinda pricy. It STILL has a bandwidth limit and everything. While War's internet over in California is apparently few of the cheapest available from their service provider. Not only is it still faster than mine, they have no bandwidth limit. Significantly cheaper, no bandwidth limit, and faster.

There's also the online stores that provide things that aren't even sold in Canada (Arcade sticks, for one). Even if they are, they're priced at an extremely high price compared to the American counter part. Amazon.com provides pretty much any electronic you would like. Amazon.ca has a decent amount of video games, and books. It has next to no electronics.

There's also games being released days after America, because of Quebec. Usually, it's a day or two, but sometimes, it can be up to a month (Guilty Gear AC+ and Blazblue. Pre-ordered them, they said the shipment was stuck in the border)

The import tax is really annoying. Why do I pay up to 50% of the original price of the product, just because it`s foreign? I mean. Canada doesn`t even have any.
If I were to get something from the US, I have to pay because it came over from USA, and is priced at over 50 dollars? Just FANTASTIC.

What about the crappy postal services? Why would it take 2 weeks to deliver an item that sent from only 2 hours away from my house. Every shop takes two weeks (Except Amazon.ca, who manage to get things over in a week) It's annoying when it's literally right next to your house, and it takes that long. This happened way too may times.

Why is Canada so behind in technology? Seriously. Everything comes out much later, or some don't even come over at all. Cellphones, HD radio (Lol, what`s that), Cameras, Mp3 players, laptops, EVERYTHING.

How about that Harper? What about British Columbia introducing that Harmonized Sales Tax? Can`t wait to buy a cup of coffee and pay 12% tax.

Ok, to be fair this is all in BC. Alberta is pretty cool, but most of these things still apply. I have no idea about Ontario. Regardless, Vancouver is an incredibly boring place to live in, if you`re a teenager.

There is those big fat slimy things I don't remember what is those names but there's a lot of them on one dock which I don't remember.

Verizon as an ISP is freaking unbelievably faster than Rogers.

How about that Harper? What about British Columbia introducing that Harmonized Sales Tax? Can`t wait to buy a cup of coffee and pay 12% tax. Yeah, well here in Ontario, our Harmonized Sales tax is going to be 13% D:<

And to me, no offense to the US, but from what I've experienced, Canada (More specifically Ontario) just feels safer to me.
(Like, I went on Vacation to Florida, and the third day into the stay, 4 police cars and a fire truck showed up outside our hotel. This never happened in Canada.)
Iunno, probably really biased.

I looked for every available site for the specific items I was looking for. I would've bought off of ebay, if it wasn't for the import taxes, as there were no sellers in Canada.

And to be honest. My area has an accident every single day. There's sirens going off everyday, any time of the day. There's kids smoking everywhere, and nobody does a thing about it. Hell, two years ago, this one man drove into a sushi restaurant and killed a few. The sushi resto is less than 5 minute walk from my house. The area is "safe" compared to downtown Vancouver, where the homeless has taken over the entire area.

:wtf:.
Okay, well I need to tell my parents that Vancouver ain't the ideal vacation spot.
Where I live, I hear the sirens once a month? I dunno. I guess you have your reasons.
You should totally visit Alcatraz. If I would go there I would.
i've lived in the sf area for 12 years and never been to alcatraz.

don't do the touristy crap it's not worth it. get lost in the pan handle or the mission or some other neighborhood, visit the gallaries etc. in the summer there is usually some local festival thing every weekend, like art fairs etc. this weekend there is a carnival parade thing. in the middle of summer you can do gaypride! i don't usually go, but the dyke march and the pink party is fun. you can also catch the up your alley, or dorey alley, or folsom street fair.
