It's been a while since I've posted here so I thought I'd post this reminder to ALWAYS wear your seat belt in a moving vehicle.
Almost a year ago now I was involved in a car accident. My friend was driving and I was in the passenger seat. We were being dumb young adults (20) and speeding down a road. I can't recall exactly what happened, but next thing I know we were heading towards a ditch at around 100mph.
I remember the feeling of the initial impact and the car rolling forwards end over end. I blacked out and woke up screaming with my feet on the dash. I have no idea how they got on the dash. My left foot was sideways and I could barely breathe.
My friend the driver was already out of the car calling 911 and trying to get my door open. The engine was still running believe it or not. I managed to get out and lay on the ground. I don't remember the ambulance ride. In the hospital they said I had 11 broken ribs and my left foot/ankle was broken. They had to put a plate and screws in my foot. My friend only got minor injuries.
Both my friend and I were wearing our seat belts. I believe if I had not been wearing mine, I would not be here today. For anyone interested, the car was a Honda Civic Si.
