my 3ds (affectionately called my "pocket game" these days) occasionally shuts off and decides it can't read the SD card that's in there - checking the chip on pc shows that boot.firm's sha1/md5 sums match what they're supposed to be. Letting it rest for a bit seems to resolve the issue, which makes me think there's a heating problem.
You'd think that the boot.firm that's echoed to nand would help alleviate this but that one was also flagged as corrupt so shrug.png
