EDGE and iEDGE are they too old now?

Hello, okay now.. please convince me that EDGE and iEDGE are just clone of CycloDS, and not original build flashcart like R4, Acekard, etc...
Most of my friends use EDGE on their DS Lite, and even on DSi (most of them not own 3DS yet, even the old one)

And, if i made a theme creator for EDGE, which is like SignaPic YasUI i have made before, is it already late, or still useful ?
And, is EDGE theme also applicable on CycloDS and iEDGE?

I think EDGE is just the cheaper version of the CycloDS made by the official team and CycloDS themes can be used on EDGE.
But I'm not sure.
