Impulse Buying and Me

I've never been fantastic at holding onto money. There's just so many nice things in the world, and hoarding money just ends up eating away at me. I could have this nice thing... It's within reach... So why not just reach out and grab it? Well I have once again succumbed to temptation, this time in the form of Prime Day discounts. I bought two whole things, and while it might not sound too bad, it somewhat is. The first wasn't too bad, a 200 GB micro SD card for my Switch. My 64 GB card had done well, but in the face of my library, it just wasn't enough. £40. That's reasonable right? Sure.

This 200 GB isn't going to last me long...

Now we move onto the real problem. You see, I like reading. I don't really read much but I do enjoy what I read. My flatmate had just the week prior alerted me to the lush form factor and design of the Kindle Oasis, Amazon's lean mean reading machine. I'm sure you can see where this is going. My mind screamed no, but my heart—my damn heart—it screamed "£50 off though!" And, being the hearty soul I am, I caved. £180 forever lost to the great corporate void that is Amazon. On the bright side, I started reading light novels. I'm about half way through the first volume of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom and gosh darn I am enjoying it. I get light novels aren't exactly literately challenging, but I do enjoy the shifting perspectives in the way it's written, and the plot is keeping me amused. I'd recommend it from what I've read so far. The Kindle itself is pretty dang great too, I've never had a backlit eReader before so that's been a huge hit with me, and being able to comfortably hold it in one hand is a bonus.

Anyway, that's basically it. I can't keep hold of money, woe me. Anybody else got any interesting impulse buys to share? Any impulse regrets? We've all been there.

i have a problem ;_;
when i want to buy something in ebay i think of a cool price and the price i can pay for it.
then i see a bid, bid my maximum price, win for a moment, then someone goes a few bucks above me, and i continue bidding until i get over the other dude max bidding
then i realize i did bid to much and get really frustrated hoping i don't win the item.
sometimes i win the item because no one in their senses will pay that much ;_;

oml I've been there before. The pure unadulterated sense of relief when somebody outbids you at that point, it's unreal lol

Scarlet neither can i keep money. I mostly waste it for others or when i waste it for myself for ingame stuff. but thats a thing i barely do

Not too surprising - it's the natural consequence of money being a social construct with no intrinsic value (until traded with actual functional goods) :)

Definitely me. The laptop I'm typing on was around 75% off at walmart just because the box was in sad shape. $170 or so. It's decent, but it has a touchscreen and it's a 2 in 1 and I feel I could have gotten a more practical computer for better specs. Oh well :P

So far, most of my impulse buys are with food, I always end up overspending on snacks. Wasted 7 bucks on three snacks and some soda and 5 bucks on 5 likely-stolen quality chocolate bars and I am almost spending 100 bucks on 3 pizzas today, but I am struggling to not do that so I can buy some tickets for an event.

Almost bought a GBA SP on a whim too, but I ended up realizing I was broken before going through it.

I am usually tight with my money since I know I won't have much for a while, but man, food and cheap electronics always get to me.

    Varies depending on if you're just trying to get high or want to get high and have a nice flavorful experience doing so. Just wanna get high, doesn't matter, smoke that shit and cough the whole way

    Still fighting with insurance to get my work done and my dentist decides to go on vacation like I expect him to be a slave at his trade how dare he vacation without my approval
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    Nice experience, you generally would want to consume within 6 months or so from package date, or make sure it's kept out of light and with a ~60% humidity regulation pack (like Boveda) in the container. That keeps it supple and not dried out and flavorful. Kept that way you're probably in best case scenario for like a year
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    "not dried out" yeah weed is dried when you smoke it but there's a difference between dry and dust lol

    Stuff I'm vaping right now is 2 years old. It sucks. Some of the THC degrades into other less psychoactive cannabinoids at that age too so not even getting the full effect from it, mega lame lol.
