I'm confused as to how you can say in one sentence that me relying on medication to provide my body with a chemical compound that my brain is underproducing is a poor coping mechanism (when really, it is something that allows me to get moving SO THAT I can start my day and develop other, more useful coping mechanisms) is in some way counterproductive and harmful, while in the next sentence saying that what you said doesn't apply to things like insulin

I mean, really, if all those people with diabetes didn't want to go into anaphylactic shock, they really should be learning healthy coping mechanisms like eating healthily and going outside for a walk /s

@TotalInsanity4 All those people that experienced trauma from 9/11 didn't all of a sudden end up with a chemical imbalance but they had meds shoved down their throats.

And about this chemical imbalance. As with every other time it has been said, it was some psychologist or doctor that claims that you must have this imbalance. Do they ever actual check for a chemical imbalance? What chemical is imbalanced? Did they have your blood tested again to see if the chemical is at the right level after trying new meds? Do they have it checked regularly? Have you seen these results?

I know with every time psych meds have been given to anyone that I personally know, the answer is "no" to all the above questions. Its all just a load of bullshit to sell you more shit that you can do without.

Dopamine and serotonin are the two hormones that are associated with depression, but unfortunately you can't really take a sample of levels without removing the patients skull and sampling brain tissue. What you CAN do is run an MRI to monitor brain activity and form (which will actually look markedly different in persons with depression, anxiety, PTSD, autism, etc), and use deductive reasoning to associate their symptoms and behavior with other patients.

Now, unfortunately, there are many different medications that affect many people differently, and it can take months to find something that works for your individual self. However, once you and your doctor find a medication that works for you, it can do wonders to help you get on your feet and actually get by day to day

@DeadlyFoez This is not the right place to discuss about your disbelief on medicine. Don't be selfish, stop making the blog about yourself, yes you are making things worse here.
I encourage you to create a thread if you want to discuss about those topics and tag anyone that you would want to discuss it with, but this blog is not the right place.

This song pretty much sums up life. Also you're 14. 14 sucks, it will suck and always have sucked, but it gets better. You're in the middle of being a grown up. Your body is in every direction of hormones.
Also want to die? I used to feel that way, then I realised. Death is my bitch and I don't got time for that. I mean, some one need to be around to slap the younglings straight.

@sarkwalvein you twit. I am not making this about myself. I am using my experiences as examples as to why I am suggesting the things that I am suggesting. If you can't see and understand that then fuck off. This is an open discussion. Hey f I am going to try to make a point about something then I damn well will have examples to back up what I am saying.

You certainly are not adding any bit of help here. Your only comment is to criticize me? Bravo.

I am making things worse? I am pretty sure that OP is still alive. So, again, fuck off.

I understand what you mean, but it seems you don't realize you are making it worse instead of helping. I agree you can carry on with an open discussion on the topic, and that would be interesting for many people, but for that create a specific thread and tag whomever you think will be interested in discussing it.
I for once agree that such drugs shouldn't be abused (and they are abused by many people), but there are cases where they are needed to avoid a worse scenario. If you just state "they are always useless and damaging" you will end up confusing people and hurting those that need help, probably in an irreversible way.

PS: Specially if you discourage someone asking for help from seeking help.

I am trying to avoid making things worse for him. That is why I am saying that the suicide hotline is bad and medicine is bad, and I gave full examples to support why I am saying they are bad. You say I am making things worse, I am trying to avoid him ruining his future over being a normal hormonal kid. It is everyone else that is suggesting drastic measures.

It is really only my first comment that can be taken wrongly, and my attitude would have been much different if I knew at that point that he was only 14. Age does make a huge difference here.

Yes, you're right. It is only your first comment that could be taken wrong. But he could really be suicidal, I mean, if it is only an "I feel bad I want to die my life sucks" thing (typical adolescent) then yeah, the right solution might be to face your thoughts and emotions and learn to deal with them. If he is actually reaching for a rope to hang himself up it is a different story. It is hard for me to tell one apart from the other, I think being cautious is the best policy.
