I wish you a happy new year in this new blog post of mine which also happens to be my first blog post of 2018! *xathya spams a bunch of emojis*

This new year has been great so far. The switch kernel and other hacks have been overwhelmingly provided by the likes of: sciresM, hedgeberg, [I have no idea who this third name is], and other twitter users. They have done a nice job in finding vulnerabilities and a trust zone hack for 3.0 switches. But they have also found something new: [batrom] bootrom exploits.

This means that Nintendo cannot update the console (like the 3ds with b9s cfw) without [deluding? Maybe deleting? Take a guess for yourself] cpus and physically replacing the bootrom. Me and knuckles [featuring dante from the devil amy cry series] are very excited!

This mean that installing switch roms/ cartridge through isos with fbi is on the way. Unless the cartridges have a drm like denuvo in them to communicate with the console to check the firmware and prevent isos… but then because the switch has the 2016 tegra cpu, will the denuvo 2016 steampunks generate crack packs to activate the right version?

Now let’s talk about the many scary viruses: spectre in intel, amd, and arm cpus. It is like a very scary ghost that relies on speculating the speed of the CPU. [I really have no idea what this next sentence is trying to say, but here we go!] It does not affect atoms because the bottom of shitty cups that has the low processor thread speeds. Can you believe that this kernel exploit has been left in silicon valley for 17.5 years? [That’s inconceivable!] Impressive, I know. The little men of intel have not done their job of preventing CPUs from being utterly destroyed in the future. Google should buy intel and engineer intel CPUs with project 0 instead.


But that’s not all! Nintendo has reveal the new box known as “Labo”. It seems like it’s overpriced because the cardboard is not like a Samsung galaxy s7 and is therefore not waterproof. *insert picture of labo robot kit here* this is how it looks like. But how will Nintendo prevent the piracy of their cardboard because of people using 3D printers? I have my own little game theory: Nintendo’s switch os scans for a special paint using the ir sensor of the joycon and the said paint is made only in Japan with qr codes made out of paint. That will therefore make pirating of the cardboard impossible. We will only be able to pirate the cardboard if we use the bootrom vulnerabilities.

And the switch emulator has been released! The switch has a octa-core (4×ARM Cortex-A57 & 4×ARM Cortex-A53) @ 1.020 GHz. The Nintendo 3ds console has the following cpu soc: 268MHz Dual-Core ARM11 MPCore, single-core ARM9. You can relate these two processors together: the switch has an arm processor, which means it’s similar to the 3ds. So the developer of the citra 3ds emulator software has come to the rescue with a new branch of citra. With a dynamic recompile, it can emulate roms. It is currently in development.

I am also very surprised by all this considering that the switch is not even a year old yet, baby. The Xbox one by Microsoft has four years of different refreshes of the Xbox one and no rom dumps. I think this is because the xbox one s uses the edge browser, therefore the xbox has less exploits than the webkits of Nintendo. Maybe if Nintendo would use the edge browser there wouldn’t be trustzone exploits for the switch?


And don’t forget: CES 2018 in Las Vegas!!! There were many announcements from manufacturers and producers alike. Like notebooks, intel+ vega G series, Nvidia now, etc. My favorite announcement was the much awaited thurderbolt3 ssds. They are very useful to make pocket sized windows and linux devices fast.

Overall, January has so far been packed full of very surprising news. But thanks to the skillful hackers’ surprises, especially after last year having not knowing about the switch kernel, spectre, and bootrom execution on the switch.
