I'd like to bring to attention the wildly un-even and poorly managed repsonsibilties of a particular GBATEMP Mod in the IRC channel. And as I have been civil throughout the situation I will leave that Mods name unmentioned, and if it is needed message me.
The reason I was told I was banned, or threatened to be banned before being banned was "Disagreeing with Staff" Which really I wasn't disagreeing with but asking about a situation that I may have potentially wanted to disagree with but did not have enough facts. It was about a former temper, whose shennanigans I quite enjoyed, and that person was banned and I was simply asking what happened.
After asking I was told to stop asking or my attendace in the channel would be an issue. Seriously? I wish everytime someone asked me a question I didn't really want to answer I could ban them, I ultimately was banned I assume because I stated it reminded me of a govenrnment which rhymed with the word Mazi, no vulgarities no nothing just a simple statement and I have heard farrrrrrr worse said in that channel. Simply drawing attention to the fact that the nazis indeed did the same thing, say something they didn't like or ask the wrong question and you could "no longer be here"
However I guess that the channel is a microcosm of the order structure in the US especially right now, where more and more rights, like freedom of speech are being restricted and privacies invaded all in the name of a safer country. I must have been removed for the betterment of everyone in the channel, yet no one to my knowledge had complained about my question.
I was not using any sort of foul language, however we were talking about some topics in which I had negative opinions, GH, Rock Band, some other thing I can't remember, all havng valid points and not just being some random hater. Maybe my ban should have been for "Upsetting the masses with negative opinions that differ from the mainstream"
Then again, I might as well have been banned for "I don't like the look of your face" so to speak.
A week for asking a question, politely. I wonder what happens when I out right disagree with a MOD?
I assume this post will be deleted, and hey maybe I'll be banned from the forums. Mods are always right. And we can't be having anyone bad talking a moderator of any kind, that brings problems, other people might have issues with other mods, and god forbid some people might realize not all moderators are good people, and maybe just maybe people will stop kissing the rear ends of those in any position of power, from mods online to cops to the upper class. By treating them like they are better people than everyone else, and by wanting to be friends/kissing up to and agreeing with everything they say, you further subvert yourself to people who are not always worthy to lead, or manage. Like I said this part has slightly turned into a rant about speaking out against unjust authority in general, but can be brought down to the level of simple moderator/user interactions.
But hey, who can expect change when differing opinions aren't allowed, or when we cannot ask questions.

And for the mod in question. I hope this kind of stuff makes you feel good. I hope that you get your kicks from banning people who don't do what you want them to, who go against what you say, I hope that I made your day that day. True responsibilty and power come not with the ability to weild them but the knowing of when to and when to not use them. Abuse of responsibilty is a sad sad thing, and truly shows the character of those who do abuse it.
