Guilds Plays: Some shit on the Vita and some shit on the PS3.

So I've been on winter break from college and got some spare time on my hands with the holidays passed and my hours at working getting trimmed slightly because of the minimum wage increase. Not that it's a bad thing really, but now I have time on my hands when I'm not hanging out with friends. So I started playing some games.

X-CON: ENEMY UNKNOWN

Well I don't like strategy games but a friend of mine was over who does and said I should give it a shot. He kept saying it autosaves but I found out it doesn't when my entire team died from an exploding car and I went to reload my save. That was about my experience with it. I'll try it again... eventually.

GOD OF WAR: ASS-CENSION

It was $10 on the PSN Holiday sale a while ago so I picked it up. It looks really good and it seems oddly quite different from previous entries. It does seem quite a bit more difficult and feels more like the first God of War than II or III. I'd recommend it if this kind of game is your fancy although they're kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to God of War material.

TERRARIA VITA

Well I've been wanting this for a while and I finally bought it. It's a very good port although some of the controls can be a bit confusing. Like switching weapons can be done by touching left or right on the touchscreen but switching menus is done with the right stick and switching crafting menus is done with the L and R buttons. Still it's only $15 (I think like $13.49 for PS+ at the moment) and you'll easily get your money's worth.

GUACMEME

Eh? It was like $3.25 on the Holiday Sale and it plays pretty alright although it doesn't feel as nearly as Castlevania-y as I'd like. I'm still waiting on a handheld Castlevania that's as good as Dawn of Sorrow guys. The humor is absolute shit cancer though.

SONIC AND SEGA ALL-STARS RACING TRANSFORMED ROYALE ULTIMAX ULTRA SUPLEX

Well I've heard a lot of people hail this as a Mario Kart killer. Not that it'd kill sales of the franchise but that it's the first kart racer to be better than Mario Kart (minus Crash Team Racing of course). I can see it, it's pretty fun and has some interesting mechanics and track designs. It's much more in-depth than Mario Kart if you wanted something competitive (but it's a kart racer so that's impossible). The Vita version is a pretty obvious downport of the console versions but it still plays pretty well. Also pretty nice single player content and I'm a sucker for games within genres that have a surprising amount of single player when others in that genre don't, like Soul Calibur or Mortal Kombat for fighting games. It's free on PS+ so go for it.
