America is missing the point about equality.

America is missing the point about equality.

Equality doesn't mean causing the other group to "suffer the pain that we have felt," it means growing from that pain to create a society where people are treated the same. I can't tell you guys how often my feelings have been undermined because I'm a guy, and because I deserve it just because of "people like you have oppressed me, so you deserve it in return." This country needs to realize that all people are just... people. We have our own experiences, culture, memories, traditions, trauma, mistakes, and pain. No human life is valued more than another, no matter what they do.

Causing others to suffer because a group of people you identify with has suffered will only cause the opposite side to oppress more. It's a vicious cycle that America has been trapped in since its very creation. Both sides of every argument are too stuck up with pride to even try to stop causing the other pain because of what they think, which causes both sides to think even less of each other. As they start to voice that opinion, it gets worse. Once one side decides to pull away and cease the suffering, then the healing begins.

Usher peace in your communities. No matter how "justified" what you are saying or doing is, it only further destroys the relationship you could have. Once America decides to move on, only then can we begin to heal as a country, and become the actual peaceful and freedom filled nation we clearly advertised around the world.
To put this as simply as possible in the form of a hashtag:
