From what I have found, video playback still works on 3.0.0 if you use the web applet for linking FB/Twitter rather than the one for portals (yes, the applets are different).

The problem so far is that it is limited to playing some YouTube videos linked on Facebook pages or Twitter accounts as the browser locks down browsing outside certain webpages.

I have tried using my older method of Twitter>nintendo.com/corp>Google (redirects to YouTube via Fiddler/Charles) method and it now fails with a page cannot be displayed error. I will see what I can do to get it to work but no promises.

Tested it with facebook. And yeah, seems they somehow registrating the redirect.
Since...

EXACT:http://www.google.de:443
*redir:http://www.google.de:443

doesnt work either. Even tho the page is accessible when you search for google on facebook and klick the link. (any search on it will result in "cannot be displayed"

I thought you couldn't browse the web on the Switch?
If every website on 3.0.0 works, how does that work, is it easy?

If everything works, I don't have to take my phone to browse the web.

EDIT: Nvm, seems to use a Windows program according to one of the stickies. Has no use for me when I'm not home lol.

Try here: http://switchbru.com/dns You only have to set your DNS server. There's no PC needed, but it won't play youtube videos.

I haven't updated to 3.0 yet, but I thought the previous youtube video blocking was a user-agent issue. Do other HTML5 videos play in the browser?

when you connect to a public wifi with your phone, your phone usually opens the browser in the "login" page,
public wifis requires you to either accept the terms and conditions (like pressing a button) or use an account to use their wifi..

Nintendo left a browser in the switch in order to users access these public wifi that require you to to click something on the page.
the switch browser exists for this reason alone and that's why you can't normally open it like an app

users of course found out this, and it's just a matter of configuring the wifi router to instead presenting a custom page for login, just presenting google or any webpage..

you can use your phone, your home wifi etc.. just need to change some settings in your access point

Facebook videos are allowed to be watched. If you're so inclined, you could download a video and upload it to facebook and watch it from there...yes, it is not efficient and does not have 'ease of access', but it works.

Just be careful of copyright...seriously. Someone was arrested for 3 years recently.

EDIT: Briefly did a google search and it seems you can embed videos into a post. That could work!

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
