No smash only have local wireless

What? I was sure I saw it on the xlink list of available working games? Hmmm...

Edit: Oh you right, my bad

Actually, lan-play also works for unmodified consoles for games that support a real LAN mode.

That's what I said though?

Sorry but... what is it ?
What I've gathered from reading a bit ( I mean just a bit) this is a type of service that allows you to network a game with someone utilizing internet-type technologies. I believe it uses similar methods and techniques to that of switch lan play because it seems to use the lan-play feature itself this was one of the more glaring similarities. Then after reading the replies to the other people who asked what is this thing they also seemed to add that a big benefit is having a random match without randoms being able to see it. Something to that nature, hopefully someone else can fill in the missing blanks here,

Great to see xlink is still alive and developing. I remember first using it years back on my og xbox running XBMC. I'll have to give this a go once I get my new PC running

Dude, Xlink exists for many years already so it's opposite.
Switch Lan Play takes the idea from Xlink :)

BTW, whole evening we have issues with MK8.
Communication errors and room creation works only once in a while :(

I can't get it to work. My Switch gets detected and the internet setting in the Switch show the right IP Address, Gateway and Submask. But I can't see any room in MK8, even though some rooms should be open according to the chat.

EDIT: NVM, it is woking, but room detection in MK8 seems to be very poor.

Is there anything that needs to be configured on the Switch side? I know with lan-play, you had to specify a specific ip/mask/gateway, etc.

Also, is it possible for people who are actually on the same network (same wifi, etc) to play along in a game that you play with someone over Xlink? For instance...if I have 3 people in my home and we want to also play with one person who lives somewhere else.

XLink has two ways to set up networking on the switch, via automatic DHCP (kind of unreliable) or manual IP assignment using this tool to get your right IP to use: https://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ipcalculator.php

If other people in your house also want to play at the same time they just need to manually set their IPs as well.

Doubtful it needs internet access, but sadly I'm starting to think you need to be connected to your AP before searching for games in local wireless mode. If this is the case, it won't work on 7.4.32, but we'll get it functional for the next release once we implement a more graceful connection to Kai from the home screen.

Which OS are you on? You might be able to get it working with Linux live booted from a USB. Support for monitor mode is much greater compared to Windows. You can also nab a USB ethernet adapter for Kai. The cheapest ones should be around $10.
I'm on windows. I'll look into Linux.

Will this be fixed soon? Really want to play some matches with some people. Haven't been able to connect to anyone at all today.
