Do you have to defeat the pokemon when shiny hunting in friends safari or can i just run away?

you can run away. after all, it's just random encounters until you find a shiny.

SO with instacheck being shot down, I managed to get hatched 2 shiny goomy eggs.

Also for RE safari shinies, I got a magmar, got the quilladin and a shiny cinccino.

I just got my first shiny! It was a shiny Sneasel from a Friend safari

After 363 hatching eggs, I finally hatch a shiny Charmander. Well worth the wait. Now I'm hunting for a shiny Squirtle then a Bulbasuar.

Also caught a shiny Gyarados:

And caught a shiny gold Magikarp. Easy chain fishing!

EDIT (12-22-13): Got my shiny Squirtle after 185 hatching eggs!!!!! Just hatched.
EDIT (12-23-13): Bulbasuar hatched after the 24th eggs. Seems like my chance for a shiny is getting bigger and bigger. XP

Now onto a shiny Froakie.

I'm wondering why all my Froakie's ability are Torrent?? Do I have to give my Greninja an Everstone for some of the Froakies to have different ability?

Froakie's standard ability is Torrent. Frogadiers which are found in the Friend Safari can have Protean, their hidden ability. If you breed a Frogadier or Greninja with Protean, this ability can then be passed down to Froakies which are bred from them.

On topic, I think I have 21 or so shinies at the moment. I got my first Masuda Method shiny two days ago. I was breeding Oshawotts, and one of them came out shiny.

Working on my shiny charmander this gen. (Someone over on the gamefaqs forums gifted me a 6IV modest japanese ditto, and it's making breeding Pokemon much easier...seriously. I'm now spending a couple of hours adding perfect IV's to my list.)

I caught my second shiny Sliggoo in the Friend Safari earlier. I'm trying to get doubles to trade for other shinies. I'm looking for a shiny Roselia at the moment, and trying to get a shiny female Snorunt/Froslass or Gastly/Haunter/Gengar for someone else.
