I just bought a used Wii remote, and although it works, the three middle buttons (+/home/-) all need pressing very hard. I have taken the remote apart and can't see any problem, the rubber thing is in good shape and is in the right place, and the buttons are also in good condition. The PCB is flat so I don't see why it's not working properly. Any ideas?

Same thing happened to me with an Xbox controller when I spilled a soda on it. The problem with mine was there was residue in the holes in the casing where the buttons sit. Make sure the buttons are clean, then clean the holes and see if that helps.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I've taken it all apart and looks fine/clean. I even took apart my original working one to compare the two, can't see any difference.

You can clean the contacts on the PCB off with a rubber pencil eraser and they should work better again. Don't use it on the rubber pads, though.
