seems like wii backup manager done a fantastic job of copying between the drives. Though Super Smash Bros Brawl did not not copy over. I think dumping from disc is worth a try. Does copying dual layerd games to ntfs cause problems?

edit: isnt cleanrip for gamecube games only?

The weird thing is that the transfer went OK. The drive fooked up when WBM tried to rename the file. After that the drive was unreadable. Did the drive work OK after remounting it? ie. Unplug, then plug it back in..

The integer overflow will be some math stuff in the progress dialogs. I should be able to track that down quite easily. Most of the math needs to be 64 bit because of the sizes the app is dealing with, but I must've overlooked 1 or 2 things. I doubt that it would affect the transfers, as your hash checks confirmed.

At first I thought it would be because this file was over 4 gig..

You can see that the error happens roughly every second, which does suggest that it happens in the progress update. I'll get it fixed for the next release.

I've still got SSBB to test again. AFAIK it should work if you use "Game only" but I'll need to do some thorough tests for the next release. I have loaded an ISO in WBM and transferred to WBFS without problems, but haven't play tested it yet. When you say it didn't transfer, you mean it failed? Or that the transferred game didn't work?

I googled the error before my last post and the only info that I could find was that the filesystem could be corrupt, so my next suggestion would've been to run chkdsk, which you already did.
smile.gif

At a guess, the corruption was probably caused by unplugging the drive without using "Safetly remove hardware" or when unplugging the drive from the Wii at some point. I prefer NTFS for that reason, I was always getting the Windows popup saying that the drive needed scanned with FAT32. There was never any errors, but I might've just been lucky.

If it is as happened with me with older revisions the program is that it does nothing. It only turns red.

Hi Guys -

Does there happen to be a tutorial somewhere in here (one that I can't find after searching multiple times) that will help me out? I want to start using WBM to replace WBFS Mgr, transferring all my games on my existing HD to a new HD formatted to FAT32. So far I've formatted the new drive (via Acronis bc WBM was saying it formatted it but it still showed NTFS at the bottom) and have selected all my games and have hit the transfer button. This was at 11:45pm, it's now 8:20am and it says it's got another 4 hours and 48 minutes to go. Should it take almost 11 hours to transfer 248 games?

I also have questions on the specific settings in the options - like which option should I choose for what partitions to keep and what each one does so I can make an informed decision about what to choose.

If there is a tut somewhere, would you please let me know? Thanks in advance!

The only tutorial I've ever known is on the first post but it doesn't really cover everything...but it does cover the basic's

I've also never really timed how long it takes to transfer (might try it tonight if I have time) but a single game transferred from PC's Internal HDD (it's an IDE one) to a external USB HDD (formatted to FAT32) takes about a couple of minutes, maybe even up to 5mins - I think

So if we assume that it take between 2-5min per game & each game is approx the same size (~3.7 - 4Gb IIRC) then transferring 248 Games @
  • 2mins/Game = 496Mins = ~8h 30m
    5mins/Game = 1240Mins = ~20h 40m
So your '11hours' sounds just about right - it works out about 2m 40s each game
(It will take even longer if you were transferring from a CD/DVD to Ext HDD)

Or, you can get a seagate goflex hard drive and an eSATA or USB3.0 upgrade cable, then when you're using windows, use the esata/usb3 cable and when you're running it off the wii, use the usb2 cable.

esata is 6x faster than USB2
and USB3 is 10x faster than USB2

The other day I was copying data from one external hard drive to another external hard drive, both using esata connections. I was able to copy 40GBs of data in under 10 minutes

Thanks for the calculations! I'm using usb 2.0 on the HDDs because that's all I have right now. well, I've got about 10 games to go and looking at the log, it's all green except for SSBB.

From what I read I think I just have to change the options to keep game partition only for this one to work - I'm crossing my fingers because of course that is the favorite in our house

ok, I really thought I wold have a lucky day and this would work with no issues but apparently not.

I WAS successful at getting SSBB over to the new FAT32 HDD so that's cool. But - when I plug the new HDD in I get the message "Welcome to WiiFlow. I have not found any games.." and it asks me to select my partition. I've selected every one of them and it still says "Welcome to Wiiflow, etc.).

I know the games are on the drive - I can see them in Wii Backup Manager and on the PC. Is there something on my SD card that I need to change to point the games there or something? I'm using the latest WiiFlow (well, as of about 2 wks ago) and it's the WiiFlow for 249, not 222 - is that my problem?

Oh and when I put my old HDD in (the one with WBFS partition on it that I have been using in WBFS Manager), everything works fine.

Please let me know if there is any additional info that you would like me to provide in order for you to be able to help that I haven't already provided. MANY THANKS!!!

see if Configurable USB Loader sees your new game partition
and also are your games in wbfs and in the wbfs folder?

thanks for the super quick replies guys - let me check and see what cios249rev I have and I'll come back to you. I dont have configurable usb loader on there but as far as my file structure goes, it's like this:

J://My passport > wbfs > Mario Party (or whatever the game folder name is)

then within the game folder I have the game (.wbfs) and a .txt file

Instead of posting twice I just looked at my SD card and I see that in my apps folder I've got cios249 rev 17! Let me go find the latest and update and I'll come back again!

Now, while I'm messing around over here doing all this, is there anything else I should update? I've got the latest WiiFlow, my system is running on menu 4.2U. My wad manager is v1.4 - does that matter?

It took 13 hours 57 minutes for me to transfer 633 games from one fat32 hard drive to another fat32 hard drive using the latest beta and both hard drives were usb 2.0
